The Great Battle

God is not afraid of a fight; neither should we be. Our dad is bigger than the enemies dad; he is stronger, wiser, and more loving. I love the fearlessness of the angel, Michael, in the movie of the same name. God is not afraid, the angels are not afraid, so we do not need to be afraid. We just need to be sure that we are fighting with God and not against him. We need to be sure that we are fighting the battles that he wants fought, fighting with his weapons, and fighting for his glory.

We are fighting the good fight of faith with the weapons of faith, hope, and love. We believe in God’s promises, we hope in our heavenly rewards, and we love with his strength. Doubt must give way to faith, despair must give way to hope, and fear must give way to love. All of our daily disciplines are to prepare us for victory in the day of battle. With God we shall do valiantly, for he shall trample down our enemies.

Our doubts will dissipate in the light of all of God’s sure promises. He has never failed us, and he never will fail us. He will come through with just what we need just when we need it. John tells us that if we are abiding in Christ, abiding in his word, and bearing fruit for him, then our prayers will be answered.

Then, despair must give way to hope. We will be assured of victory in all of our struggles. We will be assured of great heavenly reward as we learn to overcome in every season and in every trial. We will be assured that Our Father is delighting in us as we learn to delight in him and fight along side him in the great battle of the ages, the great battle for souls.

Then, love will be our constant companion, our strength, and our song. Our fears will melt away as we occupy ourselves with loving well and living well and bringing joy to Our Father’s heart. When we live in love, we live in God, and he lives in us, and love never fails.

A Stacked Deck

There are really only two ways to approach life – as victim or as gallant fighter – and you must decide if you want to act or react, deal your own cards or play with a stacked deck. And if you don’t decide which way to play with life,

it always plays with you.

–Merle Shain

Sometimes our breakthrough begins when we refuse to be impressed with the size of our problem. ~ Bill Johnson

I saw these two quotes this week and had to share.

We always have a stacked deck with Christ and His Holy Spirit living in us. Don’t be impressed by the size of your problems-expect victory and breakthrough. God is bigger than any problem.

Out Of Darkness

In the valley of the unknowns, in the shifting and the shadows, in the searching and in the waiting; Let God quiet your soul and usher you into His promises and out of the darkness.
He rescues.

He stands forever.

He delivers.

He never fails.

He is with you.
He is Lord over ALL!

Lord Over All – Kari Jobe

Lyrics:

In the valley of the unknown

I will lift my voice

In the shifting, in the shadow

I know You are with me
Lord over all

You will be my rescue

You will never fail

Lord, through it all

I will choose to trust You

You will never fail
In the searching and the waiting

You quiet my soul

In the stillness of Your presence

I know You are with me
Out of this darkness

Into Your promise

You will deliver me

Eternal Savior

You stand forever

You are my victory

The Shores Of My Soul

I have had this album for awhile.  I have heard the song countless times, but this week – I really heard it!

On the shores of my soul
I give You permission
To wash my tears away
And take all my disappointment
[and] fill me with joy once again

On the shores of my soul

Now that is a great use of wording here- so I looked up the definition of “Shore”.

Shore-the land between ordinary high- and low-water marks.  A country or other geographic area bounded by a coast.
Shore-a prop or beam set obliquely against something weak or unstable as a support.
the land between ordinary high and lows…. WoW-
A prop or beam set against something weak or unstable as a support….Double WoW!

So on the shore ( the place between my highs & lows) there is a prop and support set against my weak and unstable soul.
Have you ever felt like you have cried way too many tears ? Like the hurt and disappointments have been piling on top of each other and produced a huge surplus of tears.  I picture God operating a big conveyor belt full of bottles -sort of like God’s own bottling and manufacturing company.   Instead of Coca Cola or RC or Mr. Pibb, it is my tears -Michelle’s own special blend-God is busy bottling up.

I give You Permission

What? You mean God doesn’t just come in and wash away the surplus of tears (halt production) or take away the disappointments? (Box them up and ship them off)

No.
We have to invite Him in and ask Him to wash the tears and remove the disappointments.
Like the song goes on to say, we are free and out of the cage but we like to stay perched up on it not flying off to better days, we prefer sometimes to sit stewing in our messes and rehearsing our hurts.

But if we get up high enough, above the shame and loneliness, and we let God’s kindness lift our gaze so we look at things the way He sees them, we will see His way is much better.  We ask Him to remove and wash all the junk out of our souls.
That leaves us freed up to keep singing His praise, Singing our songs of victory and deliverance.  We keep choosing to be filled with His Joy!
And definitely we sing so loud it rings in all the Earth.

On The Shores
By Melissa Helser

On the shores of my soul
I give You permission
To wash my tears away
And take all my disappointment
[and] fill me with joy once again
[repeat]

I’m gonna sing out loud
And let my voice be heard
It’s a song of victory
And it’s ringing in the earth
[repeat]

On the top of my cage I am sitting
Above the shame so lonely
Your kindness it has lifted me
To see the way that You see

I’m gonna sing out loud
And let my voice be heard
It’s a song of victory
And it’s ringing in the earth
[repeat]

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah
[repeat]

Hallelujah, hallelujah
I’m gonna let my voice be heard
[hallelujah, hallelujah] It’s a song of victory
[hallelujah, hallelujah] and it’s ringing in the earth

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah

He Holds The Key

IMG_1048

I have a very dear friend that has been going through storm after storm lately and she is fighting to not let the enemy win.
I was praying for her on a specific event and we were conversing by text on how God had worked it all out. As I hit reply to my text this song shuffled and although I had heard it before, it was the words in that moment that pierced my heart this day and really wrecked me in a good kind of way.
I began to release so many tears and went into a full on squalling bawling doubled over deep grieving kind of hot mess crying… But strangely also a great praising God moment at the same time for the answered prayers in my friends life, for the miracles, for the hard, for the hope of her future, for her health, for her peace and comfort. As I cried I just praised God for the life lessons, for our friendship, and for hours of intense prayer interceding for her.

The words of the song became almost a prayer for not only my friend; but for several more friends and family I had been praying and interceding for, and also for myself.

Read the words as you listen to the song…. Let it fill you with hope and encourage you not to quit!

Out Of Hiding by Steffany Frizzell-Gretzinger

Lyrics:

Come out of hiding you’re safe here with me
No need to cover what I already see
You’ve got your reasons and I hold your peace
You’ve been on lock down but I hold the key

And I loved you before you knew what was love
And I saw it all still I choose the cross
And you were the one that I was thinking off
When I rose from the grave
Now rid of the shackles, my victory’s yours
I tore the veil for you to come close
There’s no reason to stand at a distance anymore
You’re not far from home

I’ll be the lighthouse when you’re lost at sea
And I will illuminate everything
No need to be frightened by intimacy
Just throw off your fear and come running to me

Oh

And Oh as you run what hindered love
Will only become part of the story

Baby you’re almost home now
Please don’t quit now
