WORTHY THOUGHT: God’s people should continue to pray fervently in times of conflict and destruction.

Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your prayers were heard, and I have come in because of your prayers. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come. ”-Daniel 10:12-14

The Book of Daniel in chapter 10 teaches us that God immediately sent his angelic messenger to Daniel because He had heard Daniels prayers, But, the messenger was detained in battle for 21 days by satan’s emissaries to prevent the angelic messenger going to Daniel until Micheal the chief angelic prince came and helped in the battle. Finally, the messenger reached Daniel to answer his prayer.

When you pray you become part of a spiritual warfare, so don’t take lightly your times of prayer. Our prayers may be challenged by evil forces, so we must pray fervently and pray earnestly and expect God to answer in his good timing.

The Great Battle

God is not afraid of a fight; neither should we be. Our dad is bigger than the enemies dad; he is stronger, wiser, and more loving. I love the fearlessness of the angel, Michael, in the movie of the same name. God is not afraid, the angels are not afraid, so we do not need to be afraid. We just need to be sure that we are fighting with God and not against him. We need to be sure that we are fighting the battles that he wants fought, fighting with his weapons, and fighting for his glory.

We are fighting the good fight of faith with the weapons of faith, hope, and love. We believe in God’s promises, we hope in our heavenly rewards, and we love with his strength. Doubt must give way to faith, despair must give way to hope, and fear must give way to love. All of our daily disciplines are to prepare us for victory in the day of battle. With God we shall do valiantly, for he shall trample down our enemies.

Our doubts will dissipate in the light of all of God’s sure promises. He has never failed us, and he never will fail us. He will come through with just what we need just when we need it. John tells us that if we are abiding in Christ, abiding in his word, and bearing fruit for him, then our prayers will be answered.

Then, despair must give way to hope. We will be assured of victory in all of our struggles. We will be assured of great heavenly reward as we learn to overcome in every season and in every trial. We will be assured that Our Father is delighting in us as we learn to delight in him and fight along side him in the great battle of the ages, the great battle for souls.

Then, love will be our constant companion, our strength, and our song. Our fears will melt away as we occupy ourselves with loving well and living well and bringing joy to Our Father’s heart. When we live in love, we live in God, and he lives in us, and love never fails.

Choosing Our Battles

We might mistakenly believe, at times, that Our Father is distant and aloof and leaves us alone to fight fierce battles without help.

Maybe that is because sometimes we want it that way; that way we get to choose the fight, the weapons, and the outcome.

God is waiting for us to let him choose our battles, our weapons, and our outcomes, to learn to do his will, his way, in his time – for his glory and purposes.

Peace be with the saints and faith with love from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all those who love the Lord with an undying love.

Your friend and brother in the good fight,

Summer Selection – On The Edge

Dive off the Edge into an Adventure in the Unseen Realm

Well, can you believe it’s that time of year again? “Summer Fun in the Sun” is how I like to refer to this season that so faithfully arrives this year on June 20, 2016. Of course for many of us it arrives right after the last day of school for some that still have kiddos at home.
There seems to be more time to read a good book when you can take it with you to the pool, lake, beach, cabin, mountains, or just to your most comfy chair outside.
I landed upon a book last week. Thanks to Amazon Prime I received it in three days.

A Novel of Spiritual Warfare

On The Edge by F. Parker Hudson

The synopsis on back cover reads.

Richard Sullivan thought he had it all until he faced the consequences of his actions…

Richard Sullivan has a problem. His average American family is on the edge of ruin and they don’t even realize it. The Sullivans are struggling through every day life with the dark power over them so strong that they cannot find their way-a power that is filling their minds with voices of greed, hate, pride and temptation. And now the very fabric of their lives is unraveling before their eyes. If only they would listen a little harder to the other voice trying to get through to them-the voice of hope, forgiveness and love before it’s too late.

It was published in 1994. Seriously, I have never heard of this book or this author. Sorry, Mr.Hudson where have you been hiding this book that I couldn’t find you until 2016. This author does a fabulous job revealing the hidden spiritual battle going on all around our families.
It’s a timely book in a timely season.

Book Two begins on page 209.

We are always given the choice which direction we want to go in our lives. Who do we listen to the voices of reason or voices of treason. Ultimately, greed, hate, pride and temptation end up betraying us and leading us down a path of death and destruction. Book Two recounts what might have happened to the Sullivan family had they had another outcome. What if all along the way they chose to listen to the voices that lead to a prosperous life full of good reason?

As I read this book and put it down I can’t escape it. I am constantly reminded that every action, deed, thought and the words I speak are being evaluated by an unseen highly organized system. It reminds me of the Star Wars series. There are the forces of light and the forces of darkness. Both operating as they are commanded and dispatched. We don’t realize the role we play or are played by these forces.

I am currently in the middle of Book Two and quite relieved that the outcome can be altered if I choose to be aware, intentional and in tune to the what the Holy Spirit is speaking to me each day.
I will be honest I get overwhelmed and discouraged at times when I see all the changes in our society that negatively affect our young people and the future generations to come.

I often ask myself how do I come up against all that is infecting this generation. I have three kids who are in that generation. I am reminded through this book many valuable lessons of spiritual warfare that I can walk away with and feel confident that I can make difference in my family and all those that are in my field of influence.
My biggest weapon is POP

Power of Prayer

Open up my eyes, ears and heart to the power of prayer. Empower me to walk in the authority of that privilege that was granted to me through the power of the cross in Christ Jesus.

-Colonel Kelley, reporting to duty

Ephesians 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Stars In The Night

Struggles and pain cannot define me,

For my name is daughter of the King,

Chosen one of God to become His

Warrior, fighting for a cause greater

Than life can fathom in their minds,

To contemplate, yet not understand

The brilliance of the Creator of time,

Transforming the renewing of our minds,

Into stars in the night sky, reflecting Him

Who has called us out of the darkness
