This Little Light

I recently read Return from Tomorrow by George Ritchie. What stuck with me is his depiction of what I consider hell on earth. He could see tortured souls walking around as if trapped in a cycle of repeating the worst of their earthly torments.

He could see the light of Christ shining right next to them but they could not see it. Imagine that place. There doesn’t have to be burning fires and demons running about in order to be hell. Everyone’s worst vision of hell may be a little bit different, but no version of hell comes with a healthy dose of the light of Christ.

Often, when I am not feeling at spiritual ease, I’ll sing “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine”.

Lately I’ve been praying hard for some tormented souls and have felt the need to protect myself through this.

As I started to sing ‘this little light’ the other day, I wondered ‘why is my light little’.

It feels big, because I am not alone.

I realized that I am not out trying to shine my earthly light into the darkness of the earth, but I am here trying to reflect the light of Christ onto His people. The strength of my little light is extremely powerful, because it is a direct reflection of the Perfect Love of our Lord. The little light is a beacon from God to guide our path and see us home safely.

Spirit Of The Living God by Vertical Church Band

Lyrics:

Verse 1:
Spirit of the living God,

Spirit of the living God

We only want to hear Your voice,

We’re hanging on every word

(x2)

Chorus:
Cause when You speak, When You move

When You do what only You can do

It changes us, it changes what we see and what we seek

When You come in the room,

When You do what only You can do

It changes us, it changes what we see and what we seek

You’re changing everything

Verse 2:
Spirit of the living God,

Spirit of the living God

We’re leaning in to all you are

Everything else can wait

Spirit of the living God,

Spirit of the living God

Come now and breathe upon our hearts

Come now and have your way

Chorus

Bridge:

When You move, You move all our fears

When You move, You move us to tears

When You move, You move all our fears

When You move, You move us to tears

When You fall, We fall on our knees

When You fall, We fall at Your feet

When You fall, We fall on our knees

When You fall, We fall at Your feet

Chorus (x2)

Mighty One

Today for #SongSunday we are bringing you an original song by Stephanie Gable.   May you enjoy singing this today…. and every day!

I will praise You

in the morning.

I will see You

all day long.

I will love You

in the evening.

I will sleep

to Your song.

You are the Mighty One.

You are my King.

You are the One

who gave me voice to sing.

You are mine,

and I am Yours.

When the dawn breaks,

I  will see You

Waiting there for me.

With your arms

Stretched wide open,

I will fall to my knees.

When you pick me up

And carry me

To that place

Called home,

I’ll be forever with You,

Face to face

At the throne.

You are the Mighty One.

You are my King.

You are the One

Who gave me voice to sing.

You are mine,

And I am Yours.

You are mine,

And I am Yours.

You are mine,

And I am Yours.

Get All Excited

Have you ever noticed that christians seem to go through cycles or periods of excitement? Recently during a time of open worship I was thinking about how I seemed to have let my level of excitement slip. I wondered, “Why does that happen? Is it possible to maintain that zeal for God? I am pouring my heart out, why do I not feel as excited as I was a few months ago?”

Then God spoke to me and said “Because it’s not about you and how you feel. Simply being able to know me should be enough for you. It is all about Me. You need to feel excitement? Remember who it is that you are worshiping.”

That was such a wake-up call for me that even if I don’t “feel” like it, He is always worthy of my praise. It’s not about how I feel when I am with Him. It is a privilege for me to be able to even know Him. I can’t allow myself to become accustomed to His presence. That doesn’t mean limiting the amount of time I spend with Him in order to make it “more special.” It means I need to pursue Him even harder, spend as much time with Him as I can, but have the discipline to never lose sight of the fact that He is God. He is good and perfect. Being able to even speak His name is an honor and privilege.

I am not worthy of His presence. He is more than worthy of mine.

Everyone Loves Music

Music ….. I don’t think I could live without it!

Each Sunday we like to bring #SongSunday to our blog.  I believe that “Music speaks when words seem to fail.”

We always love to hear what you are listening to.

What is on your list of Must Have Music?

I think Billy Joel has it right with his quote below….

Music is healing, it is an explosive expression of humanity and something we are all touched by no matter what culture we are  from.

I agree- I think

Everyone Loves Music!

No One Can Trouble Your Heart

Do not let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me, Jesus.~John 14:1 AMP

This weeks song Sunday is such a simple song.
Close your eyes and really just listen to the words.

No one and Nothing can trouble our hearts if we are with the King, He’s always got the victory.

Sing the words over and over and praise Him for being so good to you!

Happy Father’s Day

Zephaniah 3:17 – The Lord your God is in your midst—a warrior bringing victory.  He will create calm with his love; He will rejoice over you with singing.

Happy Father’s Day!

I know most of you have never heard of celebrating Father’s Day in March but today is special!

Ever since I discovered Zephaniah 3:17, where it says ‘He will rejoice over you with singing’, my morning wake up times have been rather interesting.  Nearly every morning, I will wake up with a God-song playing in my mind.  really want to know what He is saying!  So I wake up and try really hard to get that song playing on my phone as quickly as I am able.  I am intrigued by the fact that God is so happy with me that he sings His love over me.

This morning was different, though.  It was as if the Holy Spirit was excited and hovering.  It was the ‘waiting for Christmas morning’ kind of excited, and He kept waking me up before my alarm was due to go off.  2:00 a.m., then 4:15 a.m., then 4:50 a.m.  Are you up yet?  Wake up, Sleepy head! He’s here! Hurry – get up already!”  As a seasoned mom, I will admit that my experience is that this kind of pre-dawn bugginginsistence can only be dealt with by keeping my eyes tightly closed and pretending to still be asleep.  As a mother of twins plus one and after many years of lost sleep, I am pretty convincing at pulling this off.  But the Holy Spirit just kept on pleading and kept poking me until all of a sudden, I really was wideawake.  It was as if I had just received a sweet kiss on the cheek and heard the trailing off of a song in His wake.  The Father.  Ahhh….He is here and He wanted to remind me that today is His…It is Father’s Day!  Sweet!

So, this is one of His favorite songs and it appears He just wanted to hear me to sing it for Him.  Never mind that He has legions of perfectlytuned, beautiful angels (without bedhead) to make music for Him.  This is our songour moment, His and mine.  It can be that for you, too.  It doesn’tmatter if you can’t sing.  He loves to hear the sound of your voice.  It doesn’t matter if you never had a reason to celebrate your relationship with your earthly father.  He has chosen you to be His child, at the cost of His own.  This is different.  He is the masterclass in parenting and love.  You are loved by a Father Who cannot and will not ever let you down – will not ever let you go – will not forget or let you forget how much He treasures you.  He’s already busy rejoicing over us.  Let’s put some coffee onwake up for real and join Him.  Let’s celebrate the love of a good, good Father!  This day is all about Him!  Happy Father’s Day! ~ Debbie Bouckley

Good, Good Father

Oh I’ve heard thousands of stories

Of what they think You’re like

But I heard the tender whisper

Of Love in the dead of night

And You tell me that You’re pleased

And that I’m never alone

You’re a good, good Father
It’s who you are,

It’s who you are,
It’s who you are
And I’m loved by You
It’s who I am,

It’s who I am,
It’s who I am

Oh, and I’ve seen many searching

For answers far and wide
But I know we’re all searching

For answers only You can provide
Cause You know just what we need

Before we say a word.

You’re a good, good Father
It’s Who You are,

It’s Who You are
Its Who You are
And I’m loved by You
It’s who I am,

It’s who I am
It’s who I am

Because you are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways

To us

Oh it’s love so undeniable I

I can hardly think

AYou call me
Deeper still,

AYou call me
Deeper still,

AYou call me
Deeper still,

Into love, love, love

You’re a good, good Father
It’s Who You are,

It’s Who You are
Its Who You are
And I’m loved by You
It’s who I am,

It’s who I am
It’s who I am

Because You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways

To us

My Happy Place

2015/01/img_0800.jpg

Singing and dancing praises to the Father is at the top of my list of happy places.

It’s not for show or entertainment but simply for pleasing Him and for replenishing my faith-cup. When I worry about what I look like or sound like, the purity and sincerity dissipate; therefore, I must fix my eyes upon Him at all times. That at which the world may scoff, my God finds to be a joyful noise.

“I love you, Lord, and I lift my voice. To worship You, oh, my soul rejoice! Take joy, my King, in what You hear! May it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear!”

~S. Gable

Breathe

IMG_0692-0.JPG

When one news story after another keeps hurling fear and panic to the masses and it seems as though the whole world’s gone crazy and you can’t seem to escape all the demands swirling around you- it’s time to take a break, catch your breathe. and let these words permeate your soul.

This weeks Song Sunday is by Bryan & Katie Torwalt.

I Breathe You In

Turn it up and breathe in deeply!

Lyrics:
The presence of the living God,
satisfies the depths of my heart
all of me changed when you came,
Iʼm made free by Your glory and grace

I breathe You in God, cause You are thick all around me
I breathe You in God, cause You are thick all around me
You are Good God, For You are good to me
You are Good God, For You are good to me

The brightness of Your loves pure light,
Pierces through the darkest of nights
Everything is possible now,
For God is here and God is good

When I donʼt understand Iʼll choose You
When I donʼt understand I will choose You God
When I donʼt understand I will choose to Love You God

When we don’t understand, all we have to do is choose- Choose God.

As the song says, Everything is possible now, For God is here and God is good!

Enjoy your Sunday!
