Lay Our Secrets Down

“There is freedom found when we lay

our secrets down at the cross, at the cross…..”

I recently heard this song and it really sums up what we believe at Restored Ministries.

We are only as sick as our secrets!

We do an event we call Release To Be Restored where we encourage others to release whatever secret, sin, or struggle to obtain real emotional deliverance.
When we are delivered emotionally in our mind- then the body can follow and that is when we start to walk in dominion and wholeness- to fully live restored -Mind Body Soul!
Enjoy this great song! ~ XXOO Michelle Bollom

If We’re Honest by FRANCESCA BATTISTELLI

Lyrics:

Truth is harder than a lie

The dark seems safer than the light

And everyone has a heart that loves to hide

I’m a mess and so are you

We’ve built walls nobody can get through

Yeah, it may be hard, but the best thing we could ever do, ever do
[Chorus:]

Bring your brokenness, and I’ll bring mine

‘Cause love can heal what hurt divides

And mercy’s waiting on the other side

If we’re honest

If we’re honest
Don’t pretend to be something that you’re not

Living life afraid of getting caught

There is freedom found when we lay

our secrets down at the cross, at the cross
[Chorus]
It would change our lives

It would set us free

It’s what we need to be
[Chorus]

Secrets

Define:
A secret can be defined as something that is kept or meant to be kept unknown or unseen by others.

Affirm:
“Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.” Luke 12:2-3.

Recall:
Shhhhh! Don’t say anything; please don’t tell them. If I tell you-you didn’t hear it from me. No one will find out, I guess I can do it this time, this will not hurt anyone.

Have you consciously or subconsciously said these words? I have. Have you ever told a secret? I have. Have you ever tried to hide something? I have. Have you ever felt burdened by your skeletons in the closet? I have. Have your skeletons ever left your closet and sat on your living room sofa with you? Mine has. Have you hurt someone by your secret? I have. Have you hurt yourself by keeping the “it” a secret? I have.

Here is the point, we have all told a secret and we have also all kept a secret. Let me example how secrets can destroy our lives.

While many of us were preparing for Valentine’s Day last week, I know someone; we will call him Sam who was dealing with his “secrets.”

Sam is a 38 year old married man. He’s been married for 15 years. He and his wife have 3 children. The family lives in a very nice community. Unfortunately, Sam has kept secrets from his wife for several years and the secrets have caught up with him this past month. See, Sam travels for work from city to city. He is rarely at home with his family and spends very little time with his wife when he is at home. Sam for years have been missing daily affection from his wife, so during business travels, he’s been in search for a concubine to replace his desires. Two weeks ago, during his lunch break, Sam’s goal was to hook up with another woman. Instead of hooking up, Sam was beaten up! He was robbed by three women. These ladies took his wallet, his electronics- including his mobile phone, and his wedding ring. (fast-forward) Later that same evening, Sam’s wife called his mobile phone as she would every night to say good night, only to learn about what occurred earlier that day. The conversation opened up a can of worms. Sam’s wife eventually wanted to know about all his encounters for the past 5 years. He was not ready to tell her the truth. Sam’s wife demanded a lie detector. Sam declined.

In a nutshell, Sam’s life spiraled down from there. Because of the stress he encountered after his secrets were revealed, his work performance was affected. His HR department encouraged him to take a leave of absence. Because his wife did not believe him, and she was fed-up with his actions, she moved out of their home. He returned home to an empty house. All areas of Sam’s life have been affected by his secrets.

In reflecting on Sam’s story, his story truly examples how secrets will be revealed in due time, how most of us are never proud of the secrets we’ve kept and how secrets affect everyone around you. Sam, thank you for your story. Your story gives me the fuel to claim the blood of Jesus over my life, my thoughts, my actions, my words, my secrets…I know that getting back on track will not be easy; but I know God has the answers. I encourage you to seek him.

To this week’s readers, there are three things you should know about secrets :
Whatever you do in the dark, will come to the light.
• It is impossible to keep a secret from God.
• God is ready and willing to forgive us.

Like Sam, I have told many secrets. I have kept many secrets. I have done many things that I would consider a secret. Unfortunately, many people have been hurt by my secrets. Some of my secrets have been revealed to others, and all of them have been revealed to God. If you think about it, secrets aren’t really secrets. God knows everything, which negates our actions as being secrets. I am so thankful to know that I/we can go to God and ask him for forgiveness. We no longer have to waddle in doubt, fear, shame, or burden because of our secrets. Let it Go and go to God.

Exercise:
Dear GOD,

You know about everything I do. I want to walk from a place of darkness to a place that is filled with light. Give me the courage to ask for forgiveness for all my secrets. Please reveal the secrets that I have allowed to weigh me down or burden me. I am ready to experience your blessings. Thank you for your readiness and willingness to forgive me. I am so grateful that you’ve been patiently waiting. Here I am God.

If you are holding onto secrets or burdens, please go to God. He is ready, willing, and waiting to forgive you. YOU ARE FORGIVEN.

Commit to the challenge. I DARE you. ~Lereca Monik

Get Connected

IMG_0237.JPG

Do you shy away from really connecting with other women in your life? Are you afraid of being judged? Afraid of being hurt by a friendship? Well, stop that! We are live wires to
connecting others to God. God works in and through us to connect with people…especially women! We need relationships with other women for this very reason!

So open up, buttercup!
Mind you, you can’t just tell everyone …your junk, but there are certain relationships in your life that God has ordained to help you through what you are going through at this very moment.

I get so excited and encouraged when I am a part of other women connecting, getting vulnerable, and relating and encouraging each other through God! Seriously, it brings me such joy!

So, what if you don’t have women in your life that you feel comfortable relating or sharing with? Well, pray for them to pop up. Be that person for someone else!

When I moved to the outskirts of Houston with my would-be husband, in 2006, I had one friend in our neighborhood and my closest friend was still living in town miles away. I remember Jeff telling me for such a long time, you really need to make friends. You need to join a play group or something, but I just wasn’t ready. I just wasn’t ready to connect. I wasn’t happy with myself or fully happy with the life I was living.

It took me almost 2 years to join a Bible study group at my church. That one group of women has been a part of radically changing my life. That one group has evolved and grown and is still a foundation for me. That one group has helped me open up, reveal, get real, deal, heal and start stepping into my calling of encouraging others through Christ!

So, get vulnerable ladies. Find some peeps to get real with and blow the roof off your life!

Enjoy The Journey

IMG_9913.PNG

Sometimes we are so caught up in getting where we want to be in life or what we want for our lives that we don’t enjoy the journey there.
At the time our journey may not seem enjoyable, rather more like it’s full of inconvenient pit stops …or unplanned problems that come along our way. But really, those inconveniences and hiccups make the journey more meaningful. They bring about the change, the transformation, the game changers!

Remember what God promises us:

“Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.”
~Isaiah 43:19 MSG

“…Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how He did it. Because He never lost sight of where He was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—He could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now He’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. ~Hebrews 12:2 MSG

Michelle’s Restoration Story

Michelle’s Restoration Story

Sometimes I don’t even know where to begin to share my story. God has brought so much restoration into my life and He continues to Restore me daily. Like many mom’s & wives we lose ourselves and pour into our families that we rarely leave any room for ourselves. We put our health on the back burner and burn the candle at both ends. We buy the lies of the enemy and grieve our losses without the Hope that Christ offers us. We are wounded and broken and don’t know where to turn. In 2008 I found myself overweight and overwhelmed. I suffered a stroke which led to a overload of doctors and diagnosis and finally ended with the words diabetes & thyroid disease. I joke that God took away my smoking addiction, He took away alcohol, and He took away my cake too! But what an awesome blessing it is because it forces me to take better care of myself as well as, to keep my focus on Him. Little did I know that most of my health issues and the extra weight I carried were just manifestations of trying to keep a secret buried. I revealed the secret to only a select few over the years, but it wasn’t until I released that 20 + year old secret to God and got honest and obedient to Him that He could do some of His best Restoration work in my life. My secret effects 1.3 + Million women each year. Many churches and communities promote the Sanctity of Life, but rarely have I seen churches or communities doing anything about trying to help Restore these women’s lives after the effects of Abortion. There are far too many women not operating in their God given potential because they are carrying around a heavy bag of shame from trying to hold on too tightly to their secrets. Whether that secret is an abortion, an unplanned pregnancy, not finishing high school or college, yelling at your kids, angry at your spouse, vainness, a critical or judgemental spirit, cursing like a sailor, having an affair, sexual abuse, struggling with self esteem, hurting yourself physically, turning to pills or alcohol or sex or shopping or food for escape or comfort. It doesn’t matter what it is if you release it all to God. My desire is to let women know that God can and will use you if you let Him. He can breath new life into those dead dry bones. He can turn every ounce of your pain into an amazing purpose. God wants His daughters and sons to be Restored! Are you ready to release your secrets ? To Get Real? & let God use you?
