Encourage

WORTHY THOUGHT: We should look for opportunities to use words that will encourage us and fellow believers.

Anxiety in the man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word cheers it up. ~Proverbs 12:25

The most encouraging words we could ever use comes directly from the Word of God.

We are told in Proverbs 12:25 how the right message of encouragement can help someone over come feelings of anxiety and discouragement.

Here is another reminder of God’s promise to help overcome our anxiety and discouragements.

“So do not fear, for I am with you;

do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you;

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

~Isaiah 41:10

Thank you Father God, for being so good to us and for always being with us in good times and bad. Amen.

Sacred Romance

Romancethe mystery, adventure, and excitement associated with love.

We have been invited to the greatest romance the world has ever known.

Our soul’s lover, Jesus, is constantly wooing us and drawing us deeper into his heart, his life, and his mind. He zealously desires to share himself with us, and our part is to follow his lead and to invite him into our hearts and lives.

We must be wary of the romance killers – fear, worry, and selfishness, for Jesus is a selfless lover; he lives to bring glory to the Father and to bless us, his brothers and sisters. His pleasure is to share himself with us and to encourage us to follow him. This requires single-minded devotion on our part, free from the worries and cares of this life. We must cast our cares onto him, for he alone is strong enough, loving enough, and wise enough to carry them for us.

We must sensitize our hearts and minds to hear and respond to his gentle guidance and encouragement. Moment by moment, he reaches out to us – through meditation on his word, through quiet prayer vigils, and through our willing obedience to what he has taught us so far. As we hold on to what he has already given us by grace – the wisdom, the courage, the faith, the hope, and the love, he increases our blessings little by little (Phillipians 3:12-16).

Let us give our hearts to Our Father’s great romantic love. Let us be enthralled by his love, captivated by his presence, and motivated to live our lives in his service. He alone holds the key to the great adventure that he has in store for each one of us. He alone is strong enough, wise enough, and loving enough to fulfill our souls’ deepest yearnings for abundant life!

Footprints In The Sand

This is an older song by a secular artist; Leona Lewis, that I love. The song is beautiful and such a reminder for all.

“Footprints In The Sand”
You walked with me

Footprints in the sand

And helped me understand

Where I’m going
You walked with me

When I was all alone

With so much unknown

Along the way
Then I heard you say
I promise you

I’m always there

When your heart is filled with sorrow and despair

I’ll carry you

When you need a friend

You’ll find my footprints in the sand
I see my life

Flash across the sky

So many times have I been so afraid
And just when I

I thought I’d lost my way

You gave me strength to carry on
That’s when I heard you say
I promise you

I’m always there

When your heart is filled with sorrow and despair

And I’ll carry you

When you need a friend

You’ll find my footprints in the sand

When I’m weary

Well I know you’ll be there

And I can feel you

When you say
I promise you

Oh, I’m always there

When your heart is filled with sadness and despair

I’ll carry you

When you need a friend

You’ll find my footprints in the sand
When your heart is full of sadness and despair

I’ll carry you

When you need a friend

You’ll find my footprints in the sand

Surrendered Moments

Are you drowning in a massive “To-Do” list?

Are you finding yourself tired and worn out with not enough hours in the day?

Has your mind been wracked with fear and worry?

God will give you the grace and strength you need for each moment surrendered unto Him.

Stop fighting the currents and working against the tides. Surrender each moment of doubt, worry, fear, and control to God, and allow Him to carry you safely where He needs you to go.

Things are never forced with God.

I give the moments of my life over to You, Eternal One. Rescue me….~Psalm 31:15 The VOICE

Encouraging Yourself

I love to encourage other people.

I love inspiring others and giving them hope!

I usually find myself encouraging someone if they are struggling with something, or someone that is starting a new business.

In my walk with God I have found that there are times when the one doing the encouraging needs encouragement themselves.

I like to think of myself as one tough (but loving) cookie. But I am not bulletproof! We all face tests, trials, and tribulations of some sort.

King David even had to encourage himself.

In 1 Samuel 30:6 it says, “David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God.  (Amp. Version)

There are many ways to encourage yourself.

Here are some of the ways that help me:

 I count my Blessings.

 I quote encouraging scriptures.

I listen to an inspiring message.

I think about past tests and trials that the Lord has brought me through.

 I listen to inspiring songs.

 I sing praises to God.

Action step: Listen to the song called In Jesus’ Name by Darlene Zschech below.

I am sure it will lift you up!

In God’s Love,

Who Is She

IMG_1126

She…
Has big eyes that see
She has a listening heart
Wisdom with a fair filter
She knows His voice…
His ways His favor
His Face
She is not afraid
She is reverent
Relevant
Not full of herself
Yet full of understanding
She is fun
She is brave
She is freedom
Ringing & writing
His plans
She is called
She is claimed
She is learning
To walk in His ways
His name is her everything
Their friendship
Her favorite
She is daughter
She is child
She is help mate
She is kind
She is mama
She is sister
She is teacher
She is my friend

The Bright Light Of Hope

IMG_1450.JPG

Arise, Jerusalem, and shine like the sun; The glory of the Lord is shining on you! Isaiah 60:1 (GNT)

The Israelites had a rich history with the concept of God’s presence being synonymous with light. During creation, ‘God said “Let there be light”; and there was light’. (Genesis 1:3) Later, they lived it first hand during the plagues brought upon Egypt by God. At God’s instruction, one of the plagues Moses called for was complete darkness for three days…but there was light in all the places where the Israelites lived. (Exodus 10:23) Later, when the Israelites left Egypt, God led them with a great cloud during the day and a pillar of fire to light their way at night. Pharaoh pursued them with his great army. When the Israelites began to panic at the thought of being hunted down and taken back, God then moved His great, tall cloud to the rear of their group. In this way, the cloud stood between the Egyptians and the Israelites. There was darkness for the Egyptians, but there was light for the Israelites. (Exodus 14:20)
So, in Isaiah’s day, God gave him a message of incredible hope for his fellow Israelites. They had returned to Jerusalem from captivity in Babylon and were now under Persian rule. Things looked pretty bleak. Jerusalem was a shell of its former glory. The people were wondering if, as we tend to do today, God was alive and still cared about them and if He was still with them as their God. They wondered if miracles were a thing of the past. Then, as now, God still answers even the questions we dare only speak aloud in our hearts. It’s as if He is reassuring them and us: “Yes, Beloved, I’m here. See? My light is shining upon you and this generation. It’s now your time to be confident and shine in the glory of My love and my presence. Your particular history with Me awaits.”*
For us today, the message of hope is even more incredible! We have experienced what the Israelites of the past only dreamed of. The reality of Christ, the Messiah and Promised One, living inside us. If we believe in Him, we receive His light and His spirit to permanently dwell within us, not to keep to ourselves- but to share with the world. Jesus always says it best:
Jesus spoke to the Pharisees again. He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will have a life filled with light and will never live in the dark.” John 8:12 (GNT)
“The people who live in spiritual darkness have seen a great light. The light has shined for those who live in the land that is as dark as a grave.” Matthew 4:16 (ERV)
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not defeated it. John 1:5 (ERV)

The Thankful Challenge

IMG_1130.JPG

This time of year Facebook gets filled with people doing the Thankful Challenge. Each day for November people will post something they are Thankful for.

I have never done this challenge myself because I have made this practice a lifestyle change for me the last several years.
(oh how I wish my diet and exercise were as consistent!)

I read the book “1000 Gifts” by Ann Voskamp a few years back. I also saw a quote or post about what if we were only given today what we were Thankful for yesterday. I was out with my kiddos on a walk ( I recall this moment so vividly in my memories) I asked my twins to name 10 things they were Thankful for. It seemed so easy but instead it was hard. We could name a few but getting to 10 proved more challenging. At first we thought they had to be really big things but then we started listing … Thank You God for nice weather, and for time together, and for our health, and for this walk, and for good shoes, and sunshine, and birds…. We kept listing on and on things big and small we were Thankful for. So that year for Christmas I bought us all spiral notebooks and new pens. We started listing our Daily 10 Thankful’s into our journals. When we are away from home we do it in the car or wherever we are. We go around listing our Thankful’s. I am not quite sure how or when it happened but our family atmosphere shifted. Our hearts began to expand and we could recognize all the wonderful things big and small that we are so blessed with each day. I have filled almost 4 journals now. I keep listing them each day. I challenge you to get yourself, your children, your friends and love ones, a journal. Start your own practice of Thankfulness. It will enlarge your heart and transform your life. ~ XXOO Michelle Bollom

Giving thanks always for all things to God and the Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; ~ Ephesians 5:20 WBT

O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever! ~ Psalm 118:1 AMP

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.~ Colossians 3:15 NLT

The Dream

IMG_1091.JPG

The dream,
Though seemingly lifeless,
Still has a pulse.
The desire,
Though hidden in the shadows,
Remains.
The strength
Though shaken,
Still stands.
The confidence,
Though bruised,
Waits to reappear.
The dream,
Though oppressed,
Still lives,
For the never-ending need for purpose
Is the driving force of its survival.
