The Forgivable Sin

Today as every other post, headline and news story is talking about the horrific law passed allowing abortion up to full term, my heart is deeply grieved because of this decision, but it also aches deeply for every woman and man that with each post and news story is brought back to a time of deep pain when they chose abortion.

No one chooses abortion lightly.

Fear is a powerful driving force and many are forced into making that decision. It’s never an easy decision.

I believe the best voices for the future of the unborn lies in the process of letting those that chose abortion know that there is forgiveness, wholeness and restoration available to them in Jesus Christ.

Once they are Restored – they will never want anyone to suffer as they have due to abortion.

Abortion affects people just like PTSD. It has long ranging effects.

Sadly, I have been speaking out about this to leaders and churches and communities and anyone that will listen, that abortion is as much a problem for the churched as the unchurched.

I did post abortion Bible Studies in my community through the local pregnancy center. More than half of those attending were daughters of Pastors, Deacons, Elders and Bishops … all forced to have their abortions due to the shame it would bring their fathers, families and communities.

They all either described how they worked and served hard in the Church trying to prove their good works afterwards or they simply left the church completely because of the hurt they felt because no one offered them anything other than judgement and condemnation.

The Worlds churches are full of wounded women and men sitting in congregations hurting deeply over this. Another Sanctity of Life sermon and Pro-Life rant will not heal them.

Almost all that I counseled were still holding onto their secrets and shame so tightly that many turned to various forms of counterfeit comforts – hard drugs, alcohol, pills or food to try to numb their deep pain. I was one of them too for almost 25 years.

Statistics show that almost 60% of female inmates in our prison systems have had an abortion.

Where there is a woman suffering – there is also many men suffering too.

Not every man is the driving force behind the choice to abort. Many men are deeply grieved over their parts or even lack of in the decision.

I once even heard of a young college girl that was adamant on choosing abortion and when asked why, she said that her Heavenly Father can forgive her but her earthly father said he would not forgive her if she didn’t choose abortion. Her earthly father was a prominent pastor in the community.

Today, as many people around the world are incensed by this decision, may we also be just as enraged and angry for God’s daughters and sons that have bought the lies that they are horrible murderers or people because of their choice to abort.

May we be led to help them receive forgiveness and wholeness instead of simply screaming about how horrible and wrong it is.

We ALL know how horrible it is – trust me. Oprah and Chelsea Handler and every pink hat wearer claiming rights to their choices and bodies will try to spin it differently – but it is never as simple or lighthearted as they claim it is.

May we be able to show them they are loved despite the choices they made and point them to the truth that abortion is not the unforgivable sin.

Shame can only survive in silence.

God forgave Moses and David for murder and He has forgiven me and will forgive ANYONE and EVERYONE that comes to Him and repents that have made that choice too.

Please hear me!

There is wholeness and life and life abundantly available after abortion.

We must shatter the silence and shame by allowing the Words of our testimony and the Blood of the Lamb to enable us to overcome and help others overcome.

We begin to repair our stories when we share our stories.

Yes, we must

Pray for the unborn,

Pray for the lawmakers,

but please don’t forget to

Pray for your fellow brothers and sisters that are suffering in shame and silence today.

Pray they reach out and know that they are worthy of love and forgiveness.

I am not here to say abortion is ok or that we don’t have a right to voice our righteous anger towards the killing of millions of babies every year …

No, please know and hear my heart-

I am here to say that we must do more – we can always do more than simply voicing our anger over abortion. We can be committed to help restore lives by helping anyone suffering from the affects of abortion to become forgiven, healed and whole. In doing so, we can help bring about great change to the very fabric of our Nation.

If one person is bound – we are all bound!

Only One Foundation

In this time of desperation

When all we know is doubt and fear

There is only one foundation…

When all is dark, You help us see…..

With each new day the news keeps bringing more and more stories of hate, darkness and violence erupting all around us.

I felt this song fitting this week!

So, let our faith be more than anthems

Greater than the songs we sing

And in our weakness and temptations

We believe, we believe!

We believe in God the Father!

We believe in Jesus Christ!

We believe in the Holy Spirit!

And He’s given us new life!

           BELIEVE!
There is only one foundation.

Lyrics: We Believe – Newsboys
In this time of desperation
When all we know is doubt and fear
There is only one foundation
We believe, we believe
In this broken generation
When all is dark, You help us see
There is only one salvation
We believe, we believe

We believe in God the Father
We believe in Jesus Christ
We believe in the Holy Spirit
And He’s given us new life
We believe in the crucifixion
We believe that He conquered death
We believe in the resurrection
And He’s coming’ back again, we believe

So, let our faith be more than anthems
Greater than the songs we sing
And in our weakness and temptations
We believe, we believe!

We believe in God the Father!
We believe in Jesus Christ!
We believe in the Holy Spirit!
And He’s given us new life!
We believe in the crucifixion!
We believe that He conquered death!
We believe in the resurrection!
And He’s coming’ back again!

Let the lost be found and the dead be raised!
In the here and now, let love invade!
Let the church live love our God will save
We believe, we believe!
And the gates of hell will not prevail!
For the power of God, has torn the veil!
Now we know Your love will never fail!
We believe, we believe!

We believe in God the Father
We believe in Jesus Christ
We believe in the Holy Spirit
And He’s given us new life!
We believe in the crucifixion!
We believe that He conquered death!
We believe in the resurrection!
And He’s comin’ back,
He’s comin’ back again!
He’s comin’ back again!

Houston We Have A Problem

By now the world has heard of Houston, TX and the traffic distraction of the naked dancing queen. I admit I got a good chuckle out of all the Meme’s floating around the net.

Interesting though that when I think of her… I feel this overwhelming sense of not only compassion but a sense of wonder and hope surrounding it.

First I wondered how she kept her footing so well, as a larger woman myself, I know that was not an easy job, so I like to think she had some Divine assistance with that and protecting her from harm.

Second, I wonder if the surrounding motorist were pissed because she had hindered them and taken up almost two hours of their time, or if they relaxed and just enjoyed the show or stopped and prayed for her and all the children that may have caught the show.

Third, I even laughed because if you have been anywhere near Hwy 290 lately and the mess it already is with congestion and construction, it would make you want to strip your clothes off butt naked and run- not dance.

I saw the lead image from a friends Facebook page that captured the shot of the lady’s pose with her arms stretched up over her head.

I wondered….

Was she surrendering to the freedom she felt high above the other cars and distractions of her life, unhindered from the binding and restrictions of her clothes now shucked, and just experiencing the happiness of the breeze blowing away every care at that very moment?

That was the thought that I wanted it to be for her, for me, for everyone watching…..

But sadly, I doubt she could grasp a hold of any thoughts. Her mind was either plagued by the demons that have been raging within her or possibly the drugs that altered her sense of acceptable behaviors when stuck in traffic.

Rumors circled the net along with the meme’s that she was a psych patient that had left the hospital and other reports were that she was driving erratic and had caused two other fender benders before bailing out and baring all her goods before she climbed up that poor guys rig and began dancing to the music only she heard.

I can’t help but wonder, what music did she hear?

What message was this to deliver to us?

Those offended and pissed, where was their empathy and compassion?

All the YouTube videos, snap chats, tweets and Facebook posts swirling- but did anyone put down their phones, get out of their cars, and try to reach out to her instead of pointing and laughing?

I am not sure why this is all swirling around in my head this morning but I do know that God has a plan for this. God has a message much deeper than all the surface skin level that we all saw and the world has seen now by all the media coverage.

I believe that it just isn’t Houston, but the World that has a problem when others are not led to compassion or empathy for those hurting, regardless how they choose to express that pain.

Dancing Queen, whomever and wherever you are I pray that in that moment of arms held high that you felt God in that breeze that hit you girl! I pray that the demons or addiction or just the mental break from whatever life’s events caused you to do this that you will come to know Christ, be delivered, set free and be renewed in your mind, and come to have the mind of Christ. I pray for the world watching that didn’t reach out or respond with empathy and compassion would get a good heart check. I pray for all the little eyes and others that just didn’t need to see all this that you would protect their minds. I pray that I will keep seeking the lessons you are wanting to share with me over all this.  Lord, forgive me when I only think of myself- let me be led to reach out more.

Ebola-Who Is To Blame?

FullSizeRender

In our society today it seems everyone wants to blame someone.  People seem to take joy in seeing someone be the “Fall Guy”.  People demand resignations and picket and protest and organizations get involved that have no business being involved.  The media circus starts, and Facebook and Twitter feeds fill up with so much hate, fear, speculation, and some out right lies and hoax stories that people just keep resharing over and over filling Social Media sites full of …”Crap”
Yep the whole “Shitteree” is full of Crapola and crazyness some days.
(My mom used that word “shitteree” lately and it cracked me up but it is an excellent and funny way to say) -the whole kit n kaboodle, nothing left out, yep that’s right the Ebola stuff and all the crazy judgmental fear filled worry stricken cold hard bitter people opinions media circus frenzy crazy social media sharing stuff,  ( big breath ) exhale-
 The Whole Shitteree!
My friend said this recently and  I believe that it should be everyone’s reminder before they answer the question on who is to “blame” for Ebola.
We live within the blameless One, therefore let us not accuse or blame others.~ Donna Reiners
It is not our place to accuse, blame or judge.
When my kiddos come home and they tell me all the opinions they hear their peers say.  I am shocked! I think who are those kids hearing all this from and where are the parents?
But I see it for myself when I go to my Facebook feed and many there have warped views and harsh opinions about the latest big news topics. Sadly, many people who claim to be Christians are some of the worst offenders spreading fear and judgement.
I try to explain to my kiddos that usually it is just opinions and don’t pay attention to it.
I even throw their Popo’s (my Dad’s) wonderful wisdom at them-
Remember-
“Opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one”

and then I use it as a deeper teaching moment to remind them that because we choose to live by a Biblical world view, and Love Jesus and love others as ourselves, then sometimes (most of the time) our opinions will go against the crowd or be different from the “popular opinion” on things.
If our thoughts and opinions don’t line up with Jesus, we better check ourselves because our opinions may not matter to everyone but they do matter to God.
Peoples negative opinions and junk can easily jump on us if we aren’t careful.  We should not align ourselves with others opinions, even with those in authority if it doesn’t line up with God.
Our opinions and most importantly our hearts always need to line up with God & His Word.
I always tell my kiddos-
The right side to be on is always Jesus’ side.
Recently I had one of those, “do as you have been teaching your kids moments”.  I went against “popular opinion” and replied to a post from a friend who asked if people thought the head of the CDC should be fired over this Ebola hoopla.
Here was my reply:
“Actually I don’t agree that the CDC head should be fired. I think that they are all human and had no idea how to treat or prevent Ebola. So this is a learning curve for all the CDC the doctors and the nurses …everyone. I’m sure enough people protesting for the firing of the CDC head, and it will happen. That is how our society is with always needing someone to blame and someone to set an example with. Unfortunately I think it leaves no room to demonstrate to our children or others compassion, mercy, forgiveness, gentleness, or kindness. Those are true examples of character missing today. If they were modeled and displayed more, our society would be a much better place.”
Those are my thoughts not only on this, but for all situations, whether it is the CDC head, reporters, television celebrities, NFL players, lawyers, judges, Joe Shmoe next door, you, me….everyone.
We are all capable of mistakes.  We are all human.  We don’t know everything.  We are not to blame, accuse or judge.
God is still in control!
No matter who is president Jesus is still The King!
I don’t have all the answers, and my opinions may not matter to you, but I will tell you what I do have that makes me not buy into all the opinions and fear and crazy Crapola circulating social media these days.
I have the TriFecta of all TriFecta’s-
I have The Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.
The Prince of Peace lives inside of me.  I am in Christ, so that means so does all my circumstances too.
I could care less who is responsible or who is to blame for Ebola, or gas prices or Global warming, or if Obama was playing golf, or anything else that doesn’t build people up and make the world a better place.
I am not worried or scared or fearful about any of it.
I have His Peace, Prayer & Promises!

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. ~ Romans 8:26 – 28

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow – not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below – indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.~ Romans  8:38-39
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
~ Romans 12:2
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.  Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. ~
Ephesians 4:31-32
If we are True Believers and followers of Christ, we should love others as ourselves, stop blaming and judging people and start to demonstrate love and peace to others amidst all this worlds chaos and confusion.
Let’s all do our part to change the whole Shitteree with only Godly opinions shall we?  XXOO Michelle Bollom
