Christians are not to be milquetoast creatures that submit to wickedness out of a fear of suffering. Rather, we are to be strong in the power of Christ’s might, overcoming all evil with good deeds. We are to stand up to evil, wherever we find it. Our meekness comes into play when we must suffer for standing up humbly for God’s truth; for if we are valiant warriors for Christ, suffering will come with the territory. The strong man is the one who can endure great suffering for love’s sake. Our power is our resolute determination to act in a way that will bring great glory to Our Heavenly Father and great salvation to our fellow man.
Also, we are to be authentic worshippers of The Most High God, not groveling worms that have no experience of pleasing their Heavenly Father. True Worshippers are overcomers who know how to rejoice in every circumstance, bring great glory and pleasure to Almighty God, and love deeply everyone in their world. True Worship of God is a high honor and brings with it great peace and power. Through Spirit and Word inspired worship, we are able to present our bodies to God to be vessels for him to work through as he brings his kingdom to earth. Without the preserving witness of God’s love by God’s people in each generation, evil would be free to run amuck. As we faithfully display God’s mercy and grace, all evil and wickedness must run and hide to avoid the steely gaze of Our Savior who is watching all and rendering to each one according to his deeds.
To restate the thesis: we are to be meek not milquetoast, worshippers not worms. It is only false religion that produces mindless, passionless, passive doormats. True religion creates heroes and heroines, prophets, and humble servants. It is written: “The meek shall inherit the earth.” Also, “Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.” Through our Spirit led holy devotion to Christ, we will reign on earth; we will behold our God; we will represent him well throughout our life, and we will enjoy face to face communion with him for all eternity.
This reward awaits all who will abandon small mindedness and self-centered living. Through our faith, we can be large hearted, others-centered servants who display passionately the Father’s heart, mind, and will. This is a calling well worthy of our devotion and our time; this is a life that will shine for God!
Have you ever had a moment where your mind is bombarded with thoughts…maybe even feelings…that are so strong it’s hard to not believe them or define yourself by them?
Usually, those are lies that the enemy wants us to believe are our own thoughts, when in reality they are external whispers being delivered to us by the accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10). This last season has been the Holy Spirit teaching me how to not engage these thoughts, how to take them captive and how to stand in my true identity as a child of God who knows and lives out of what GOD says about me.
The enemy is on the prowl right now, desperately trying to get Christians to believe untruths about themselves. I use the word desperate, because that’s exactly what he is! The devil is desperate because he knows that his time is coming to an end, and the people of Jesus have victory over him. Sadly, one of the things he uses most to keep us in bondage to lies is our very own salvation, because so many Christians have no idea just HOW MUCH Jesus has done for them, above and beyond just forgiveness and entry into Heaven. When you don’t know what you have, you won’t use it.
What if every Christian was fully aware of exactly what Jesus did for them, and thus who we are in Him? I long to see Christians in my generation in history truly grasp the substance of their salvation. I long for us to learn to use the Heavenly weapons of warfare to overcome the devil’s lies. Revelation 12:11 says that “they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.” We have a better understanding these days about the blood, but what about the word of our TESTIMONY of what Jesus fully did for us? If we only knew and believed, I know the lies would no longer have any power.
The Lord showed me a silly picture for my friend once, which I would love to share with you because I feel it is actually a tool to help people learn to fight the lying thoughts and feelings with their Spiritual weapons instead of worldly philosophies.
I looked over at my friend one day, and I immediately saw everything in the natural turn into a cartoon. I’m a prophetic seer, so I wasn’t surprised by this manifestation, although I had never seen the world through cartoon eyes before! When I looked over at him, I saw that he had the full armor of God on his body (Ephesians 6), and he was swinging that sword of the Spirit like he was ready to cut off the head of a giant. I saw that there was a sneaky demon coming toward him, and as he was going after it with his sword, he did not see that there was another, larger demonic force approaching his head, unnoticed, from above. What I saw next was both hilarious as well as profound: As soon as my friend had killed the demon in front of him with his sword, he quickly turned to the sneaky demon above him and he headbutted the demon with his helmet of salvation! The demon was headbutted a few times before it was defeated, but when it disappeared, I knew that it was indeed gone. Soon the cartoon encounter ended, and Ben was hugely encouraged by what I saw!
Perhaps, like me, you have always been told that the helmet of salvation is actually a defensive weapon used to cover the mind, or used to protect the mind or thoughts of the believer. I’m not disagreeing with this teaching, but I would also like to propose that when the enemy begins to throw lying thoughts at us as believers, we have every right to take that helmet and begin to use it as an offensive weapon!
As it is the helmet of SALVATION, once we know the true substance of our salvation and the fact that we are truly free indeed (John 8:36 – “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed”), we can fight off the enemy by using what we know about our salvation to not just protect our thoughts, but to conquer every lie that the accuser tries to throw at us. I believe that working with the sword, the shield, and all the bits of the armor, we can stand even more victorious when we know what that helmet of salvation actually means to us.
It sounds a bit ridiculous, but I feel that we need to get really good at using that helmet of salvation to not just protect our mind, but to headbutt the devil out of our lives! The only true power he has is what we give him when we partner with his lies. I challenge you this week to ask the Lord to remind you about your true testimony, and what Jesus did for you and how Jesus transformed you – and then headbutt that old liar back to hell where he belongs!
Feeling unheard and unappreciated, shunned and shushed…
The deep chasm seems too wide and divided to every be bridged again by common ground.
The endless need to always be right when everything is wrong.
Half-hearted attempts falling as flat as the air that has become thick and stagnant sucking the very life out of you.
What do you do when you have been hurt to the core?
You can rehearse the hurts or release them.
You can let those that mistreat you defeat you; OR you can gather yourself and your tears and take them to the Only One that can rightfully do anything with the dings that have assaulted your heart and soul.
The Only One that will remove the hardness from your heart and hopefully theirs too… and fully redeem and restore.
He keeps every tear you shed in a bottle. Why does He capture them?
I believe it’s so He can turn those same tears into the refreshing and watering and deep cleansing our very heart and soul needs to fully forgive and release all the hurts.
Stand and let the Lord fight for you.
The Only One that never hurts or disappoints is God.
Exhale and free yourself from it all.
Then take a deep breathe in and inhale the freshness of a reset and restart to your heart.
Feel His Mighty Spirit that promises to be our strength when we feel weak fill up all those crevices that the dings of hurt created.
Rosh Hashanah… Also known as “head of the year.” Rosh is head. Ha is the. Shana is year.
This festival is considered one of the holiest in Judaism. This year it is considered a “high holy day” because it falls on a Friday/Saturday which is Shabbat. Any time that a festival falls on a Shabbat it becomes even more sacred and valued.
The festival was established in Torah.
23 Adonai said to Moshe, 24 “Tell the people of Isra’el, ‘In the seventh month, the first of the month is to be for you a day of complete rest for remembering, a holy convocation announced with blasts on the shofar. 25 Do not do any kind of ordinary work, and bring an offering made by fire to Adonai.’”
Blasts on the shofar. This is the one holiday that it is encouraged to blow the shofar. It is the beginning of their new year. They are bringing praise to Adonai.
It is on the first day of the month of Tishrei. Yes, it is considered the “seventh month,” but this is due to a civil cycle and a spiritual cycle. That can be explained in another segment.
The reason this festival is considered “head of the year” is because this is when it is believed that God created the world. It becomes the “birthday of the world.”
The importance of this day continues for 10 more which are called the “Days of Awe.” During these ten days the Jewish people spend time in reflection and asking for forgiveness. They want to make sure that their hearts are clean so that on the Day of Atonement they can be made pure for another year.
For those who believe in Jesus as their Messiah, I believe this day could be the birthday of Jesus. Based on the times and seasons of when the priests served in the Temple, and we know that Elizabeth was pregnant with John the Baptist when Mary came to visit her, pieces can be put together.
If we stop and think about this, it would make sense. Jesus is brought to earth as a baby on the day that the Jews consider to be the “beginning of the world.” He is going to return as King over all the earth” to a blast of the shofar.
These are great days of reflection. Passover is significant, because of what it represents as prophecies fulfilled. But, these are days that have happenings yet to come. Shofars blowing – then days of reflection about our lives – then the day of Atonement when we come before God – and then the ultimate celebration of Sukkot when we Feast together with Him.
How do I celebrate? Our family makes round challah bread with raisins which represent the crown for the coronation. We also eat apples dipped in honey to bring sweetness to the new year.
With all that is happening in the world, I believe that we should really stop and reflect this year on HIS times and seasons. TONIGHT (Friday the 18th) is when Rosh Hashana begins. As Shabbat enters, so does this joyous, and yet reflective festival. I urge you to prepare and be ready to spend time with your Father. Your Creator. The One Who made you in HIS image so you can be like Him.
Reflect on Psalm 81, known to be a Psalm for this day.
For the Leader. On the gittit. By Asaf:
Sing for joy to God our strength!
Shout to the God of Ya‘akov! Start the music! Beat the drum! Play the sweet lyre and the lute!
Sound the shofar at Rosh-Hodesh and at full moon for the pilgrim feast, because this is a law for Isra’el, a ruling of the God of Ya‘akov. He placed it as a testimony in Y’hosef when he went out against the land of Egypt. I heard an unfamiliar voice say, “I lifted the load from his shoulder; his hands were freed from the [laborer’s] basket.
You called out when you were in trouble,and I rescued you;
I answered you from the thundercloud; I tested you at the M’rivah Spring [by saying,] (Selah)
“‘Hear, my people, while I give you warning! Isra’el, if you would only listen to me! There is not to be with you any foreign god; you are not to worship an alien god.
I am Adonai your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth, and I will fill it.’
“But my people did not listen to my voice; Isra’el would have none of me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to live by their own plans.
How I wish my people would listen to me, that Isra’el would live by my ways! I would quickly subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes. Those who hate Adonai would cringe before him, while [Isra’el’s] time would last forever. They would be fed with the finest wheat, and I would satisfy you with honey from the rocks.”
Looking through some of my writings from last year, the Lord drew me again to this word of encouragement for those who may have forgotten their purpose, or who have possibly lost the passionate dreams that they originally had from the Lord. I feel that this word is pertinent to many during this season of frustration, feeling silenced and having normal life distracted by this pandemic.
I know that His plans for His people have not changed, even if they have been disrupted. I felt this week that He wanted to remind us of the dreams, plans, and passions that He put inside of us – REGARDLESS of what our bank accounts or job situations may look like in this season.
One of the things that He pointed out to me this week is that some need to go back to a time in their walk with God when money was of no real consequence to them. A time when they were full of radical faith and holy spirit dreams and were willing to let go of everything just to get to the ends of the Earth for Jesus. The days when they would sell all they had for the treasure in the field (Matthew 13:44). A day when, though the bank account may have said otherwise, every single bill was paid for and every need was met in an Ephesians 3:20 way.
I heard Him say that fear often masquerades as “worldly wisdom,” but you are not of THIS world! Even with children. ESPECIALLY with children, your God will meet ALLLL of your needs according to HIS glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
His plans for you are to PROSPER you, not to harm you. He has a HOPE and a future for you (Jeremiah 29:11).
DON’T SETTLE FOR THE WORLD, or its ways, when you were created to take the enemy’s camp.
“Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal” – John 6:27.
This is a season for sons and daughters of God to DREAM BIGGER, and not disregard the seedlings of dreams that were taking root at the beginning of 2020. I feel such a challenge to begin to once again water those small dreams and nurture them, without forgetting or “shelving” them because of lack of finance or fear of the unknown future.
If you are delighting in Him fully, then chances are the desires and dreams in your heart have been planted there by Him anyway (Psalm 37:4).
Today, I call you up into remembrance of what the Lord has done and has promised!! He will never lie or change His mind (Numbers 23:19). He will always provide, always give you sufficient grace, and always guide your steps.
Don’t let what you see in the natural hold you back – it’s time to DREAM again!
