Live To Give

Godliness is good.

Godliness with contentment is even better.

Love is good.

 Agape love is even better.

When do we get to the point that all we desire from God is God himself?

When do we learn that all we need from one another is to just be with one another, learning to accept and encourage one another?

It is enough that our lives bring pleasure and blessing into the heart of God and into the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ. We love it when those we love do something to bless us. So, how much more should we set our hearts on blessing others?

We know that Our God is a loving and giving Father. What if we reciprocated and learned to love and give to him? How wise would that be?

We can have Christmas any time, even in August, if only we concern ourselves with helping and blessing those we love and those that love us.

We can experience heaven always, as we learn to worship and exult in Our Father and Our Savior, just because they are worthy of our love and adoration.

Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive”.

 Let us live to give.

Restoration Stories – Turyatunga Felex

My names are Turyatunga Felex. I am 23 years old from Uganda Africa. I was born in a polygamous family where my daddy had over 14 children and 4 wives.

I was 4 years old when my dad abandoned us and left us alone with our mother, with no one to help. Our mother had no money to take me to school and to feed us. Our Dad would come home for only mistreating us and fighting with our mother.

 Everyday life was a mess.

Our mother tried her level best and made me study and completed primary school and all in my pain. At school I could study for one week and the school directors could send me back to home for fees and with nowhere to get it I would have to spend some weeks home looking for fees myself but all in pain and when I was completing my primary six level our mother also left us alone because of my dad afflictions toward her.

I lost everything and everyone at that moment I was left homeless. I had to look for where to get survival from. I went to the streets of Kampala where I start life from. When on street life was not easy at all. I had nowhere to stay, I had nothing to eat and with nothing to put on.

I could move into hotel pits to get what to eat but all in vain it was a hell. While on street God was merciful to me and saved me from the pits when I accepted Jesus as my personal savior, from then on I started believing God and I start hoping in him that one day my life will change.

I started sleeping in church but with nothing to eat. From there God was merciful to me and brought one who was merciful to me sponsoring me in school again he paid for only one term, because I was bright the school gave me bursary till I finished high school.

After high school I had no one to take me to the university so I went to church again and I start ministering. I also sleep in church when every one had left.

I loved helping others whom I met on the streets. I could go there and preach to them. God taught me many things. I learnt his word, I joined a missions team called gospel tour ministry., and we started moving to the villages helping those in need and the poor as we pray and preach to them.

I am setting up an orphanage home to help kids who are on the street, who are in diaspora like I was in. Those who lost parental love and care so that they can have the care and love lost from their parents. I sponsor them in schools as well.

May God bless you as you read my life story, as we wait for part two in Jesus’ name Amen.

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing. ~ Psalm 107:20-22 KJV

“Synchronization”
For a few weeks now, I keep hearing the word synchronization. Everywhere I go, I hear it, see it or someone is talking about it.  I realized God was speaking to me so I slowed down and asked Him what He wanted me to learn.   Get ready, because when you ask this, He WILL answer! […]

Release Your Seeds

This morning after speaking with a friend and hearing about a need, I parted ways saying:

we will continue to pray for you.”

The Holy Spirit quickly spoke to me and said- “You have the seed to meet their need.”

I thought, what? Our Van is back in the shop, I was given that seed, Oh Lord, I plan to use it for XYZ.  Lord, that will make them uncomfortable, …it isn’t even enough. What if something happens and we need it?

Again God said- “you have the seed to meet their need.”

I stopped and did not argue anymore. I did not rationalize, I did not think of a million more excuses why or was it really God speaking or not. I chose the uncomfortable obedience.

I then heard as I did what the Lord asked of me- “your obedience is worth far more than your sacrifice

So God had me thinking on this word for you-

We all have needs- but we all also have seeds.

It’s time to release your seeds!

What are some seeds we have? …

Time

Items

Food

Money

A ride

A word

A smile……

How many of us have houses full of items and someone is needing something that we have in our overflow?

We are so quick to take to Goodwill but why do we find it uncomfortable to pass along our gently used items to someone in need that we know could use them?

How many of us have way more than enough food that we could share a meal with a few? Or buy someone a meal? Or a bag of groceries?

How many have an extra dollar or two or three or five or twenty or fifty they can pass along?
What if we just denied ourselves and sacrificed that pedicure or manicure or a round of golf or one less meal eaten out or that expensive and way overpriced coffee for a day or two and meet someone else’s needs?

How many have a few moments to stop, listen, pray, or to help comfort someone with a warm smile, hug, or encouraging word?

What if – Instead of just hearing someone express a need, we were all stirred to be obedient to the Lord and to provide whatever seed we had to meet their needs?

It doesn’t have to be hard… Or confusing or be some grand….extravagant…. gesture ….Or even made into a big deal at all.

Simply when you hear of a need, provide the seed, whatever it is, to help meet that need.
You never know what seed someone else could be holding that will meet your needs one day.

We all have the seeds to meet someone’s need!

Release your seeds!

Empathy

Define

Empathy can be defined as the capacity to understand what another person is experiencing from within the other person’s frame of reference in other words place yourself in another’s shoes.

Affirm

Matthew 22:39 “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Recall

On the evening of Monday, May 25, 2015 heavy rain was followed by a wide-spread life threatening flood that exceeded the flooding we had experienced during Hurricane Ike. That morning, I awoke to many texts questioning my safety and texts stating “stay home.” I had no idea what my family members suggested; until I pulled outside of my parking lot to see the bayou over flowing with water. I quickly returned home and turned on the news that morning to see many communities in Houston underwater. A few days later, we learned the subsequent flooding event impacted thousands of businesses and homes, damaged hundreds of vehicles, caused power outages for more than 100,000 residents, and led to nine local fatalities.

Two weeks after the flood I met a woman at a work event—on a Saturday. The organization I work for partnered with a local company that offered free mattresses to families who experienced the devastation. Because it was the weekend, I didn’t have a sitter so my daughter, Lereine went with me. I really didn’t want to work on Saturday; especially with the sun beaming on me like I was a rotisserie chicken; but of course I obliged considering the partnership was valued at more than 1.5 million.

I saw a women in line by Lereine- of course she was entertaining the crowd. In an attempt to engage in conversation with her, I noticed she was wearing a shirt that stated “Rice University,” so I politely said “did you attend Rice?” I was not ready for her response. She said no, “I didn’t. Actually, I lost all of my clothes in the flood and a neighbor let me have this shirt.” Initially, I did not know how to respond. The only SILENT response was empathy.

All of a sudden my entire reason for being there became clear. Early that week, honestly I was frustrated because my team was required to work long-extremely long hours. As I began to imagine what Carley’s family endured- I had to stop being concerned about how great of a job I was doing or how long my work hours were. Instead of complaining, I started thanking and praying. My family could have been the family needing help instead of offering the help. God again humbled me.

Have you found yourself inadvertently complaining instead of thanking? Have you found yourself not empathizing with another person; because your struggle was not their struggle? Just know, GOD instructs us to have empathy and he wants us to love our neighbors as ourselves.

The next time you see someone experience pain, heartache, and/or turmoil- I challenge you to for a minute try to imagine what life would be like if you too endured their situation and then ask GOD to bless them. When you do, you will feel amazing, and so will they!

Exercise

Dear God,

Thank you for helping me understand the importance of empathizing with others. For at moments, when I choose to lack empathy, please soften my heart to show love to my neighbor as myself.

Commit to the challenge. I DARE you.
