Happy Birthday Daddy

My daddy would be 70 years old today.

I am sure he is celebrating Big if they celebrate birthdays in Heaven. If they celebrate homecomings, this November will be his 8th homecoming anniversary.

I miss hearing his voice and his great big hugs and kisses and even his sneaky mischievous bite of my nose. I miss all his silly rhymes and poems and his calls just to say nothing but “It’s Your Daddy & I love you

I miss the emails and the phone conversations that lasted for hours and hours never running out of things to say. I miss that he loved large and always tried to help someone even in the times he had not much to give. I miss sharing recipes and what new music we found. I love that he never ever made me wonder if I was loved or special or the apple of his eye. He always said or signed his pictures “My favorite daughter” which he also did that to my sisters too!

He gave me a love for all sorts of music and taught me to never despise the hard times. I loved how he could tell a story and make you feel like you were right there. He always made sure I knew he was one of my biggest fans.

Sometimes I imagine my dad and my brother Toby (whose 10th homecoming is in a few weeks) and the amazing mansions with elaborate gardens and koi ponds and all the amazing art Dad is now creating for Jesus and my brother Toby playing and loving on all the animals and babies in Heaven.

I spent far too many years very sad on their birthdays and homecoming anniversaries. I grieved my brother’s death in 2006 without hope and was able to grieve my dad’s death in 2008 with much hope.

I am comforted now that because of the sting of their deaths I have come to know Jesus on a much more personal and deeper level. Because of my trust and their trust in Jesus, we will all one day be reunited. The more time I spend in my Heavenly Father’s presence the closer I feel to my earthly Father and my brother Toby.

I am thankful for the moments that I see my dad’s dimple and quirky smile, his funny and hilarious personality and of course his True Die Hard Dallas Cowboys fan in my son, And I see his amazing artistic talent and fix anything, so creative and kind loving spirit in my daughter.

Happy Birthday Daddy! No sad tears today –

I promise not to be a squall monkey.

A New Drug

I hear the old Huey Lewis song – “I want a new drug” swirling around in my head today. I had to YouTube the song just to remember it. Although Lewis sings of a new drug to make him feel like he feels with a new love interest without any negative side effects; I started to think of Christ as a new drug.

Christ is a new drug for some people and sadly for many the last resort, or even worse many don’t even know Him as The Great Physician.

It is true, healing is in His Very Name!
Jehovah – Rapha -The LORD who heals.

Another awesome benefit is there are no negative side effects in Christ.

My friend Reverend Phillip Hand with Vision House Ministries in the UK, has a great ministry. We have featured him before on the blog and you can search by his name to see more posts.
One part of his website is a section to put in your name and download or print personalize healing Bible scriptures just for you to declare over yourself or for someone else. Your own personalized RX for healing!

So maybe you have not tried Jesus, you can accept Him right now into your heart. (See prayer below) Maybe you know Him but not sure if He can heal you and as the last resort are willing to try anything, or maybe you know Him as your Great Physician and want to do it for yourself or someone else – wherever you are, give Jesus a try and declare yourself healed in Jesus name.

Don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior? Accept Him now:

Pray this prayer….

Dear God I come to You in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins.

I believe that Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins.

You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9; that if we confess the Lord as our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.

Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved.

Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace always leads to repentance. Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life. Amen.

A Pure Gift

IMG_0547.JPG

The glorious miracle of our Christian faith is that, in spite of our fickle nature, our couldn’t-care-less attitude and our disobedience, God still loves us with the love that is both forgiving and cleansing. It makes no difference who we are or what we have done: if we are willing to renounce our sins and take refuge in God in true repentance, He will receive us with the loving forgiveness of a Father.~ Solly Ozrovech

I loved this quote I read this week. Then I saw this verse…

Romans 3:23The Message (MSG)
God Has Set Things Right

21-24 But in our time something new has been added. What Moses and the prophets witnessed to all those years has happened. The God-setting-things-right that we read about has become Jesus-setting-things-right for us. And not only for us, but for everyone who believes in Him. For there is no difference between us and them in this. Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity He put us in right standing with Himself. He got us out of the mess we’re in and RESTORED us to where He always wanted us to be. And He did it by means of Jesus Christ.

What an awesome promise!

He is the Great Receiver & The Great Giver and of course He is always the Great Restorer!
