The Sun Stood Still

“So the sun did not move, and the moon stopped until the people defeated their enemies. This story is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky. It did not move for a full day.” ~Joshua‬ ‭10:13‬ ‭ERV‬‬

Heartache, defeat, shattered dreams, and broken hearts, all experienced by an innocence that was stolen, a sun that was forgotten, while destiny and time seemed to stand still.

The battle ground seemed dreary and victory seemed hopeless, in the blanket of the night, God knew there would be freedom. He awaits, waiting as we get ready and prepared for the battle ahead.

No matter what your battle is God never stops thinking of you. He understands your pain, heavy heart, unanswered questions, and unresolved resolutions.

He is constant in the sky above and on the earth below. Find comfort in him today.

He Is Here

Many times in my life I have questioned, “Is God really here?” Is he here when a mother loses her precious child? Is he here when she cries out in pain? Is he here when grief seems harder than living? Is he here when sickness has no end? Is he here when hate is favored over loving? Is he here when it seems as if the world were going to break? Is he here?

Even still,
HE IS HERE.

“He told them a story. “Look at a fig tree. Any tree for that matter. When the leaves begin to show, one look tells you that summer is right around the corner. The same here—when you see these things happen, you know God’s kingdom is about here. Don’t brush this off: I’m not just saying this for some future generation, but for this one, too—these things will happen. Sky and earth will wear out; my words won’t wear out.” Luke‬ ‭21:29-33‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Look Through The Wave

Remember that Peter wanted Jesus to prove that it was indeed He walking on the water by allowing him (Peter) to come to him by also walking on the water. Peter was able to do just that UNTIL he took his eyes off Jesus which caused him to begin to sink, right?

I was thinking about that event, and the Lord placed a wave in front of my eyes, and I heard Jesus say, “Look through the wave,” and that’s when I saw Him.

When I think about this, He shows me that it’s not just the “big wave” that comes to block our view of Him but also the very thought of one coming that causes us to sink. There is no question that these waves come and will continue to come throughout our lives. Instead of thinking about them, though, we must reframe our thinking to how muddled we will allow them to be.

Yes, they’re big waves – often HUGE! Yes, they are ugly, dark, and capable of filling our lungs to prevent air of life! BUT GOD!

Allow not the gulps of water! Allow not a drop to be consumed! Keep your eyes open to SEE through each wave, and you will see Him!

He wants us to walk on the water as victors of our circumstances- no matter the size of the storm- and when the waves seem too big, it doesn’t mean we are sinking, for we are already overcomers, it simply means that we must look THROUGH those waves to see Him.

I receive this as a word to NOT be thinking of the “what ifs” of the future and to just keep our eyes on Him. The waves come, but when we are STILL, our vision is clear, and we can SEE through them…to SEE HIM.

“Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

Always

My father is whom I will seek.
For there is nothing good in me or
worthy of his grace.
He replaces my iniquities
and his sacrifice is sufficient.
His love provides me comfort
at every breath that I take in.
While in need, he is my constant.
When I am depleted, he fills my cup.
When I am weary, he gives me strength.
When I have forgotten, he gives direction.
He faithfully guides me towards his heart.
The Lord is my refuge.
He stands in goodness,
       ALWAYS.

When We Don’t Understand

As I sit here in my prayer corner thanking God for all the blessings He has given me, I am so grateful, but there is a deep sadness in my heart. Last night a friend of mine texted me that a man I highly respect in my company, lost his son in a car accident. He was only 22 years old and was on his way to college, when a truck hydroplaned in the rain, crossed the center line and hit him and his girlfriend head on! He was killed instantly and she survived and is in serious condition. Please keep them all in your prayers!

News like this is always shocking and cuts right to the core of your heart and a deep sadness overwhelms you. Thoughts begin to race through your mind of how tragic this is for their family and friends. I can’t even begin to imagine how it must feel for the parents and brothers and sisters to endure such a loss. Even though you may not know the person who passed, you still feel the deep sadness and have empathy for their loved ones.

You can’t help but question, Why Lord? Why did this happen to such a young, vibrant young man, who had his whole life ahead of him? How could you let this happen? We can’t even begin to understand, yet we continue to try to figure it out.

Scripture says in Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

As Christians, we just have to trust that God loves us and has a greater plan and purpose and He will use everything for His glory. Even though we cannot possibly understand, His plans are for good and not evil.

The Message, Romans 11:34 captures it so well, “Is there anyone around who can explain God? Anyone smart enough to tell him what to do? Anyone who has done him a huge favor that God has to ask his advice? Everything comes from him; everything happens through him; everything ends up in him; Always glory! Always praise!

In devastating times like this, we can find peace and comfort through him and only Him, nothing can heal a broken heart, but the love of Jesus. He is our strength in the darkness, and he is the light at the end of the tunnel. Only he can take away the pain of losing someone we love so dearly.

Our peace, comfort, strength and joy comes in The Word of the Lord:

“Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles” 2 Corinthians 1:3

“Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” Psalm 105:4

“The joy of the Lord is your strength”, Nehemiah 8:10

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

“I also saw that no one can understand all that God does. People can try and try to understand the things that happen here on earth, but they cannot. There may be wise people who claim to understand the meaning of these things, but they are wrong. No one can understand it all. ” Ecclesiastes 8:17

Later in the afternoon, I received another text saying that he donated organs to save 75 lives. One life was lost, but many, many lives were blessed!

Real Help

Whatever enemies are tracking you down or have you surrounded and keeping you up at night, be comforted and encouraged that the invisible God is much more real and powerful than any visible enemy.

Davis had armies of enemies trying to track him down and God was right there shielding him from harm. David was able to sleep and awoke rested tall and steady.

Real help comes from God.

Be fearless before the enemy mobs.
We have no reason to fear.
He has never lost a battle!

~ XXOO Michelle Bollom

God! Look! Enemies past counting! Enemies sprouting like mushrooms, Mobs of them all around me, roaring their mockery: “Hah! No help for him from God!” But you, God, shield me on all sides; You ground my feet, you lift my head high; With all my might I shout up to God, His answers thunder from the holy mountain. I stretch myself out. I sleep. Then I’m up again—rested, tall and steady, Fearless before the enemy mobs Coming at me from all sides. Up, God! My God, help me! Slap their faces, First this cheek, then the other, Your fist hard in their teeth! Real help comes from God. Your blessing clothes your people! ~ Psalm 3:1, 3, 5, 7-8 1-2 MSG

Amazing Revelation Revealed

Name History of Jesus of Nazareth:
He is the Christ, the “Anointed One,” or the “Messiah.” The name “Jesus” comes from the Hebrew-Aramaic word “Yeshua,” meaning “Yahweh [the Lord] is salvation.” “Christ” is actually a title for Jesus. It comes from the Greek word “Christos,” meaning “the Anointed One,” or “Messiah” in Hebrew.

During a morning quiet time this week I was visualizing myself holding onto Jesus with my head on HIs shoulder. I had the thought, “What would it feel like to be held by Jesus?”

What if He physically stood by me and reached out to me? How strong and yet soft at the same time would His shoulder feel with my head buried in it?

Then out of no where came a thought that rushed through my thinker like a bolt of lightening.

“THAT IS WHY I CAME TO YOU THROUGH MY SON JESUS. YOU NOW HAVE THE ABILITY TO TOUCH ME, WALK WITH ME, TALK WITH ME AND I TOO AM ABLE TO REACH OUT AND TOUCH YOU!”

God desired intimacy with us. He sent Himself. (You have to really wrap your mind around that one.) He desired a relationship that went deeper than the Old Testament “holy visits and proclamations” through certain appointed prophets and leaders. He desires relationship with ALL of us. His children He created. You and me, each of us equally important and valuable to Him.

Jesus is the bridge of salvation that we can choose to cross and leave our sins behind us. We then position ourselves to be in good standing with a perfect holy God who DESIRES to hug us and hold our weary heads up to rest on His shoulders!

Lord,

Help me to truly understand all the mysteries that surrounds your Son as You, The Father in the flesh. I can not fully comprehend this without help from the Holy Spirit to reveal all that encompasses your love for me through your Son.

Reveal More To Me,

I John 4:2

This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

He Hears Us

We all have times where we find ourselves in need of something more. We desperately seek and search for the heart of our Father, even when we don’t realize that is what we are searching for.

He is the fullness to our void.

He awaits our surrendering heart. He calls us deeper into His love so that we might have life in abundance. He has been listening; He hears the voice of his children and He provides comfort to the humble heart.

“Hear me, Lord, and answer me,

for I am poor and needy.

Guard my life, for I am faithful to you;

save your servant who trusts in you.

You are my God; have mercy on me, Lord,

for I call to you all day long.

Bring joy to your servant, Lord,

for I put my trust in you.

You, Lord, are forgiving and good,

abounding in love to all who call to you.

Hear my prayer, Lord;

listen to my cry for mercy.

When I am in distress, I call to you,

because you answer me.”

-Psalm 86 1-7 NIV

Embrace

I love you just as you are

Flawed and imperfect

Despite how you may feel

Your self-directed criticisms

The parts of you that you despise

I will embrace

In your ambition and struggle

Through accomplishment and mistakes

I am beside you

The broken pieces and blinding beauty of who you are

Is written on my heart

I cherish your growth and transformation

As well as that which is unchangeable

I accept the whole of you

The seen and unseen

The known and unknown

You walk through countless days

Your weary eyes a mystery

Driven by love and determination

You endure

Silently

Your focus and ambition is testimony to your devotion

Through struggle and frustration you labor

In quiet torment you are relentless

I will be your solace

I will wrap you in peace and comfort

Soothing the ache you do not speak

I will be your passion

I am ravenous for you

I will be your encouragement

My faith in you is boundless

I will be your strength

I will undergird you with an unshakable foundation

I see you as you are

And I love you
