Be a Beautician not a Mortician!

Don’t get it backwards!

Be a Beautician not a Mortician!

October has arrived and time is tick tocking away. Some of you may be looking for that special Halloween costume this fall season. Me personally, I don’t touch Halloween with a 55 foot pole. Not since Pippy Longstocking, Chatty Cathy and Raggedy Ann moved past the 70’s popular choice of costumes.
However; I have a thought.
Why not choose to be a beautician this season and focus on the beauty we have in Christ Jesus. Sometimes we can get stuck dressing the part of a mortician by carrying around our old dead corpse. You know our old sin nature brought on by a man named Adam. (Okay, it was a dual crime involving a woman. You can read about it in Genesis.)
Our nature that is suppose to die daily as we wake up each morning!!
Well, it does need a little renewing and daily chit chat from us for such a death to occur. As born again believers we have an opportunity to allow Jesus to make all things new and fresh each day. Even the cremated can get some resurrected help. The Lord takes our ashes and makes them beautiful. Now that’s an extreme mineral makeover!!!
We really can’t do the makeover by ourselves we need heavenly help!!!

Isaiah 61:3 (NIV)
and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

Ephesians 4:22-24The Message (MSG)

20-24 But that’s no life for you. You learned Christ! My assumption is that you have paid careful attention to him, been well instructed in the truth precisely as we have it in Jesus. Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything—and I do mean everything—connected with that OLD WAY OF LIFE has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.

Ladies, that’s just two of MANY verses in the Bible on dropping our old self and picking up our new and improved self in Christ Jesus. Wouldn’t it be easier if we carried around a compact mirror in our purse with a reflection of Jesus giving us beauty tips on joyful living? It’s way better on our back then pulling that old heavy corpse around everywhere we go and focusing on what we ain’t and are not!!!

It’s really quite simple……
Die already!!!! (Not you, but you know who)
Aren’t zombies popular this Halloween?? Perfect!!!
I think we do have it backwards.
I’m moving forward with……..
Happy Hallowed Be Thy Name Day!!

Light On,
