Obedience

WORTHY THOUGHT: Late obedience is still disobedience.

When I heard those words “Late obedience is still disobedience” from a wise friend I met on a mission trip in Guatemala. I had a sense of conviction and God’s spirit spoke to my heart to write about it. The question I had even as a Christian, when have I disobeyed God?’

Maybe God wants to remind me and others as Christians it is easy to delay obedience. Sometimes we know the right thing to do but we don’t want to do it or Satan will always put things in our paths to distract us from doing God’s important work or we will get to it as soon as we are done with our daily tasks.

Then it came to my mind and I started to remember. God has asked me to read and study my Bible on book of Matthew for my ministry but instead my husband and I went out to the movies. When I came back home from the movies I will read up on the book of Mathew before my bedtime a sentence or two later, I fall asleep . Next day I will be on Facebook for two hours checking to see who liked my picture’s instead of reading my Bible. Yep! Convicted!! It grieves me now that I am aware of this.

Delayed obedience it is still disobedience.

I do ministry work to disciple others and again we must value obedience. I have read book of Mathew before but that week I disobeyed, since I have not read the book of Mathew like God asked me too.

I could not give out His message to my ministry, I panicked, I couldn’t speak, it was like empty words coming out of my mouth. I’m so thankful for my Christian co-leader who did read the Book of Matthew and she was able to give a great message what God was speaking in Book of Matthew. My co-leader valued obedience and by obeying God, He blessed her. By her example my co-leader obeyed Jesus and taught others to obey Jesus.
I knew after I repented to the Lord I had learned my lesson. God gives us His grace and mercy and loves and forgives each of us. He is still willing to use me and you to obey His commandments and we will be blessed.

Jesus replied,” Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” – John 14:23

“Whoever heeds discipline shows way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray. ” -Proverbs 10:17

If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.    – Deuteronomy 5:33

Keep this Book of the law on your lips; meditate on it day or night, so that you may be careful to do everything in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful . -Joshua 1:8

On Guard

You can’t hurt me

Steal my joy
Rob my peace
Take my seed

Not tonight

Not ever.

From now on
I guard my heart

With glee, cheerfully

You can’t be
Rude to me

I’ll love you anyway

You can’t hurt my feelings

Because I will not live that way

You can’t do anything to me

That I do not let you do

It’s not your fault

That you can’t give me what I need

You’re just unable to

While you live your life in disbelief

I am what The Word says

Not what you think or see

I am worthy of your love

But your crap, I will not take

You will never harm me

You cannot reach my heart
Because I’ve got my guard up

Beware of The Word of God.

10 Truths for Navigating the Modern Dating Culture as a Christian

Oh my! I so loved this blog! Check out Beauty Beyond Bones.  So beautifully written and very funny too! ~XXOO Michelle Bollom
We are living in unprecedented times. At least for those of us trying to navigate this nauseatingly complicated travesty that is the modern dating culture. The noncommittal guys, the “rules for communication,” the necessity for seeming like you don’t care, the casual approach, the ‘swipe right’ mindset of romantic relationships. But for me, there’s a whole ‘nother layer to navigating this […]

They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father. So Jesus said,“When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. The one who sent me is with me; he […]

Rewards

WORTH THOUGHT: Are we sounding our own trumpet of ‘acts of righteousness’ in front of others so we can receive our own rewards or praise?

Often times we want to receive recognition or praise in the things we do for the Lord.

What Jesus describes in scriptures in the book of Matthew is what is our motive, is it ‘God’ centered or ‘I’ centered?
Jesus teaches about giving to the needy;

Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of people, to be seen by them. Otherwise, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So whenever you give to the poor, don’t sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the •synagogues and on the streets, to be applauded by people. •I assure you: They’ve got their reward! (earthly reward not heavenly reward) But when you give to the poor, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

Matt. 6:1-4 HSCB

When you want to help or give something to the poor and the next day you have lunch with your best friends and share with them the good deeds you did the day before for the poor, your best friends will praise you for having a good heart for helping the poor. But, Jesus is saying that is an “I” centered motive and giving yourself a pat on the back will be your earthly reward, not your heavenly reward.

We should give only in secret to please God and receive His praise. If we give to win the praise of others or to be able to compliment ourselves then our immediate reward is earthly praise -we lose our eternal reward.

We cannot get rewards twice. If you give in secret, only our Father will see it and He will reward you in heaven.

Jeremiah 29:13 says” You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart What is it about “SURPRISES” that we all like? According to Webster’s Dictionary it’s  an unexpected event, piece of information, and unexpected gift, the feeling caused by something that is unexpected or unusual. People are looking to […]

No In-Between

Our job is not to judge whether His Word is right or wrong but to obey it.

We are not to question and certainly not to give our opinions, for none of that changes truth.

 He is Truth.

He knows what He’s doing.

We know nothing.

We either believe all of Him, or we believe none of Him.

There is no in-between.

Thank you, God, for knowing.

Thank you for correcting us as a loving parent should.

There is Room at The Table for All

Amazing post! Enjoy and be sure to follow this blog. ~ XXOO Michelle Bollom

“Something has been occurring within the body of Christ for some time and it saddens me deeply. Now more than ever, I am seeing a continually tearing down of one another from within Christendom.  Its destructive force is the ugly monster of jealousy.  I am especially amazed how prevalent this is among women in ministry.  […]
