Overcoming Grace

I see the pain on her face

The tears lingering in her eyes

She lays her heart bare

Like a costly jewel

I am one with her pain

Her every emotion

I was her not too long ago

Father’s love found me

In my desert places

Nothing to offer

He covered my nakedness

Washed my past off of my face

Anointed me with fragrant oils

Till my wounded heart

Declared a new song

Soon she will enter this place

Where we trade our brokenness

Our fears, our dark spaces,

our rags

Till every chain falls to the ground

We dance in the deep

His infinitely love holds

our gaze

He crowns sons and daughters

With overcoming grace.
