I don’t know why, but this word is coming to me over and over. Derek Prince has posted numerous quotes recently about giving praise. Worship this past Sunday at the fellowship I attend was about praise. Friends, in our deepest hour, we need to PRAISE!
It is NOT easy to do. I want to grumble. I want to compare. I am tired. Who WANTS to praise?
Psalm 22:1-6 My God! My God! Why have you abandoned me? Why so far from helping me, so far from my anguished cries? My God, by day I call to you, but you don’t answer; likewise at night, but I get no relief. Nevertheless, you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Isra’el. In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted, and you rescued them. They cried to you and escaped; they trusted in you and were not disappointed.
David felt alone. Abandoned. And yet, he KNOWS that God is HOLY and sits, “ENTHRONED on the PRAISES of Israel.”
Friends, it is time we learned as David did that Adonai, our Father, our Creator, THRIVES on the PRAISES of His people. When we do this, we will NOT be disappointed. When Israel chose to to put their TRUST in God, HE delivered them. When they gave Him PRAISE, He answered.
It’s time to “Put your praise on!” My children had a song they listened to over and over as children that used those words over and over. It is a great reminder of what He expects from us!
There is a song we used to sing at the synagogue we attended in Nashville. It was a favorite of mine called, “Shiru L’Adonai.” The words to the song were simple:
When we sing, When we sing, When we sing,We pray twice. When we sing, When we sing, When we sing,We are one.
Shiru L’Adonai means “SING to God.” The lines above were sung over and over. There was POWER when sung. When we sing, we pray twice… I want you to PONDER on this concept.
Force yourself today to give Him praise. I believe you will find that you are NOT disappointed.
