The Greatness Of God

Sunday at the fellowship I attend we sang the song, “How Great Thou Art.” Let me just say, when this is sung with passion (which we did) and a true understanding of how AWESOME God is (which I believe everyone there believes), this song is amazing. It is a classic and one that seems to bring out everyone’s loudest voice of praise. I believe that THIS is what God desires!

God is Great. Do you believe that? Do you CLAIM that?

Job 37:5 “God thunders wonderfully with his voice, he does great things beyond our understanding.

I Chronicles 29:11 Yours, Adonai, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory and the majesty; for everything in heaven and on earth is yours. The kingdom is yours, Adonai; and you are exalted as head over all.

Jeremiah 10:6 There is no one like you, Adonai! You are great, and your name is great and mighty.

Nehemiah 1:5 I said, “Please, Adonai! God of heaven! You great and fearsome God, who keeps his covenant and extends grace to those who love him and observe his mitzvot!

What do you notice about all the verses above? They are from the Old Testament! They are verses which claim the GREATNESS of God.

In the New Testament we read more of the greatness of His LOVE. This is also needed in our lives today. The reminder of HIS LOVE is so important in a world that struggles to understand what love really is.

However, there are times that we need to just give PRAISE to God and give HIM thanks for His GREATNESS! Singing that, and worshipping about His greatness is even stronger.

I encourage you to GIVE THANKS to Him this weekend and simply declare His GREATNESS as King of ALL the earth. If you feel led, I would sing, “How Great Thou Art” at the top of your lungs as often as possible. He NEEDS our praise! He DESIRES our praise!

Then sings my soul My Savior God to Thee How Great Thou art How Great Thou art

Shabbat Shalom,

Rose Horton
