Waiting

Waiting…

Something very few people enjoy. Most people despise to wait…

Our society has become filled with an “I deserve this instantly” mentality.

And yet, the Word of God is filled with Promises for those who WAIT.

The most famous verse is:

Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (ESV)

but those who hope in Adonai will renew their strength, they will soar aloft as with eagles’ wings; when they are running they won’t grow weary, when they are walking they won’t get tired. (CJB)

If you look at the ESV it uses the word “wait.” The CJB uses “hope.”

I found this quite interesting. Not knowing the actual Hebrew word used in this writing I don’t know which one would be closer to the original intent, but if it is “hope” than that means we should always be anticipating! We should always be filled with HOPE.

This is not easy. The struggle is real to keep HOPE alive. When the darts and arrows are flying and you feel burdens and weary, trying to HOPE is hard. I even find that I don’t always know what to HOPE for anymore.

What I do know, if we are walking with HIM and we look to Adonai for our source of wisdom and understanding, than HE will be with us and we can rely on HIS strength to get us through.

Psalm 27:13-14 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! (ESV)

If I hadn’t believed that I would see Adonai’s goodness in the land of the living, . . .Put your hope in Adonai, be strong, and let your heart take courage! Yes, put your hope in Adonai! (CJB)

These verses are the same. WAIT in one translation is HOPE in the other.

Friends, I believe this is significant. When we wait, we don’t lose hope. As we wait, we keep our hope in Him. We take courage and stand strong because HE is with us.

I have watched God provide over and over if I just “wait.” If I keep my HOPE in Him, He does come through! I admit that I despise waiting. But with HIM fighting the battle, it is KEY to do this.

Let’s keep cheering one another on. We need each other. It helps us stay “strong and courageous.”

Shabbat Shalom,

Rose Horton
