Alert

Alert… Last week I had the word sleep. This week, alert.

Sleep, as we know, is important. Being alert in these times is key.

The verses below all happen to be from the New Testament. There is definitely a heightened sense of people believing they need to “be prepared.” The Jewish people were anxiously awaiting their Messiah. They knew He was coming. Some began to understand and believe that Jesus was the spoken of Messiah. Others could not grasp it because there wasn’t “peace” like the Promised Messiah was supposed to bring.

Today, we are once again facing so many situations that cause many to say we are in the “end times.” Words and Prophecies are being spoken that we are going to face more and more difficulties and tragedies.

I don’t know what is about to happen. This virus has caused issues world wide. So much information is being thrown around about what is to come that at times I just have to stop reading or watching anything.

What I do know is, I must always be ready. I need to have my eyes reading His Words and my ears listening to His Spirt. I must always be ready to walk where He wants me to walk and speak what He wants me to speak.

My prayer is that the verses below will encourage you to stand strong, be ready, and prepare yourself with HIS armor and strength.

I Peter 5:8 Stay sober, stay alert! Your enemy, the Adversary, stalks about like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Luke 21:26 as people faint with fear at the prospect of what is overtaking the world; for the powers in heaven will be shaken.

The bolded words above are from Haggai 2:6

For this is what Adonai-Tzva’ot says: “It won’t be long before one more time I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land;

Ephesians 6:18 says: as you pray at all times, with all kinds of prayers and requests, in the Spirit, vigilantly and persistently, for all God’s people.

(Some versions use the words, “to that end keep alert…” (ESV) instead of vigilantly and persistently…)

Things are happening. The earth is shaking. The world is in turmoil. Sleep is important in order for us to “stay alert.” Just make sure that in ALL areas you are LISTENING to His Spirit and walking with Him. Know that all that is happening around you is for a reason. Just stay close to Him through it all. He is your Protector. He is your Guide.

Shabbat Shalom,

Rose Horton
