Holy Spirit is still placing hymns on my heart. In this time of continued rest, He has been bringing to my mind reminders of His grace and mercy. Reminders of His LOVE for me.
Exodus 33:22 When my glory passes by, I will put you inside a crevice in the rock and cover you with my hand, until I have passed by.
This is what Adonai told Moses when Moses “begged to see God’s glory.” God protected Moses. God wanted Moses to know that He would take care of Him, so He placed him in a rock cleft until He passed by.
Isaiah 32:2 A man will be like a refuge from the wind, like protection from a storm, like streams of water on arid ground, like a rock cliff shading a weary land.
Today I have been singing Rock of Ages. The world has been “shut down” for a couple months now. Less travel by many people. Most have not even had work. Families have been forced to be “hidden in their homes.”
The words to this hymn bring the reminder that God has us “hidden” with Him. He alone is my Savior and He alone is my firm foundation. He alone is the Man Who is shading me in a weary land.
As the world begins to “open up” again, stop and find a way to make sure HE is your Rock and that you are hiding in Him. Just TRUST Him and understand that HE is there to protect you.
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee;
let the water and the blood,
from thy wounded side which flowed, be of sin the double cure;
save from wrath and make me pure.
Not the labors of my hands
can fulfill thy law’s commands;
could my zeal no respite know,
could my tears forever flow,
all for sin could not atone;
thou must save, and thou alone.
Nothing in my hand I bring,
simply to the cross I cling;
naked, come to thee for dress;
helpless, look to thee for grace;
foul, I to the fountain fly;
wash me, Savior, or I die.
While I draw this fleeting breath,
when mine eyes shall close in death, when I soar to worlds unknown,
see thee on thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee.
