What a challenge has been laid on us; what a life we have been called to—to bring glory to God in our work, our worship, and our witness!
This is all encompassing and a little overwhelming. If only it were a challenge in just one area of our lives that we could prepare for diligently and then execute perfectly—that would be easier, like a single hard test that we could anticipate, perform, and then rest, relieved that it is over.
However, it is not like that. It is a life and a lifestyle that we are called to. And it is not just for this life; it is an everlasting life to which we have been introduced. For now and forever, Jesus is our life.
When we work, we are to be demonstrating Christ to our work world; when we worship, we are to be showing the world the true worship that God requires, and when we witness to others it is God’s truth that we are to be exhibiting.
Our Father knows the daunting nature of the life to which we have been called, and he is so wise, powerful and gentle that he knows just how to nurture us through each day. He is with us morning, noon, and night. He is beside us in our work, he lives in our worship, and he empowers our witness. He is our all in all.
As it is written: “Work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who is at work in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”
