Recently, I was driving in my car on a long distance road trip. My car had a light, reminding me that it was time to change my oil. However, I had recently serviced my car and forgot to reset the button. Although my car was doing what it was programmed to do, I couldn’t get the light to shut off. It reminded me how my Spirit could be like that.
Time passes, and I can quickly get caught up in the high demands of life. However, it doesn’t take long, and I can feel the void in my Spirit. I can hear these words, “Spend some time with me. Refresh your soul and renew my Spirit within you.” Many times I have prayed this verse. “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”~ Psalm 51:10 NIV
When I take the time to push and hit the reset button in my heart, my thoughts, my patience and compassion towards others shift. I move towards the life God desires for me.
Lord, I thank you today for allowing me an opportunity to spend time with you. Thank you for providing the freedom to do so. Please forgive me when I get caught up in life and forget you are waiting for me. Refresh my Spirit in you and create in me a pure heart. In your precious name, Amen.
