The Great BattleĀ

God is not afraid of a fight; neither should we be. Our dad is bigger than the enemies dad; he is stronger, wiser, and more loving. I love the fearlessness of the angel, Michael, in the movie of the same name. God is not afraid, the angels are not afraid, so we do not need to be afraid. We just need to be sure that we are fighting with God and not against him. We need to be sure that we are fighting the battles that he wants fought, fighting with his weapons, and fighting for his glory.

We are fighting the good fight of faith with the weapons of faith, hope, and love. We believe in God’s promises, we hope in our heavenly rewards, and we love with his strength. Doubt must give way to faith, despair must give way to hope, and fear must give way to love. All of our daily disciplines are to prepare us for victory in the day of battle. With God we shall do valiantly, for he shall trample down our enemies.

Our doubts will dissipate in the light of all of God’s sure promises. He has never failed us, and he never will fail us. He will come through with just what we need just when we need it. John tells us that if we are abiding in Christ, abiding in his word, and bearing fruit for him, then our prayers will be answered.

Then, despair must give way to hope. We will be assured of victory in all of our struggles. We will be assured of great heavenly reward as we learn to overcome in every season and in every trial. We will be assured that Our Father is delighting in us as we learn to delight in him and fight along side him in the great battle of the ages, the great battle for souls.

Then, love will be our constant companion, our strength, and our song. Our fears will melt away as we occupy ourselves with loving well and living well and bringing joy to Our Father’s heart. When we live in love, we live in God, and he lives in us, and love never fails.
