Come…Rest

Lord, give me the strength to look around and not feel overwhelmed today.  Let me savor in the Season a little longer.  Let me come and sit and find rest in You.   Hush my hurried mind.  Strengthen my tired body.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Dancing Bride

I want to be mesmerized only by You

Our hearts beating as One on the dancefloor

Your embrace my safest place

Your eyes pools of love for me.
Love that became my compass

in everything I do

Taking me places, I never knew existed

Highs and higher heights,

I experience, when I am with You.
When I release and just let go,

I discover different facets of Your heart for me

It leaves me breathless like our dance of love

You have ransomed my heart, and

I twirl in Your arms

I am abandoning myself to only Your control.
As You’re taking me deeper and deeper with You

Past the veil as I discover more of You

What we have has became my lifeline

What we share my daily bread,

As I lay my head down on Your chest,

I know I was created for this all along.

A Christmas Eve Reminder

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I’m just another decorator.

If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I’m just another cook…….

If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home, and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to my family, it profits me nothing.

If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir’s cantata, but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.

Love stops the cooking to hug the child. Love sets aside decorating to kiss the husband. Love is kind, though harried and tired. Love doesn’t envy anothers home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens. Love doesn’t yell at the kids to get out of the way, but is thankful they are there to be in the way. Love doesn’t give only to those who are able to give in return but rejoices in giving to those who can’t. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust. But giving the gift of love will endure.

Pause- grab a nice cup of cocoa – sit down – rest & reflect.

It doesn’t have to all be perfect.

Be sure to not get so wrapped up in all the lights and shiny paper that you forget to focus on what really matters.

Looking Through Love

Surrender. Better yet, abandon.

Abandon small mindedness, small living, and self centered thoughts. Cast out into the depths expecting a mighty harvest.

Abandon shoreline fishing for the occasional bite and strike out into the deep for the adventure of experiencing boatloads of fish, big fish, bountiful harvests.

What is keeping us home, standing guard over nothing, expecting nothing, seeking nothing? This is not what it means to take up our cross and follow Christ. We are to be harvesting or looking for a harvest. And for that we need new eyes, a new heart, and a renewed mind.

Isaiah says of Christ that he will not judge by what his eyes see or his ears hear, but with righteous judgement he will judge the poor. In another place, it is spoken: who is so blind but my servant and deaf as the one I send? So, we can be blinded by sin, or we can be blinded by righteousness. It is our choice. If our eyes are on ourselves, we will see nothing else; if our eyes are on Christ, we will see into heaven, into God’s heart.

It is written that the wicked do not understand God’s justice, but those that seek the Lord understand all things. In another place, it says that in Christ are hidden all the riches of wisdom and knowledge. The world is blinded to the truth because they do not love the truth. We see the truth of Christ because we have chosen to believe in him and love him.

So, love is what opens up our hearts and opens up our eyes. Love is God’s law, his passion, and his purpose. His end game is a world where nothing exists but love. Love and lovers. Eternal love, great love, exalted love, God’s love. Love for the asking. Love for the taking. Morning, noon, and night love. Fearless love. Never ending love.
