Words Matter

We are masters of the unsaid words, but slaves of those we let slip out. ~Winston Churchill

I was reading in the book of James this morning. When all of a sudden I got halted and stopped on chapter one verse 26…….

James 1:26 “If someone expects to minister for God but fails to guard his words then his heart is drifting away and his ministry is shallow and empty.”  Passion Translation

I was thinking about the thought surrounding what’s going on in our culture today. We hear on the news the catch phrases:

 “Black Lives Matter”

“Lives Matter”

Two or three words can tell a story or paint a picture with little effort.

One word has the ability to change the whole definition of a phrase or sentence.

Example:
I love you!

(add a word or a contraction)
I don’t love you!

(change the end marks)
I sorta love you?

It’s a whole different message being received by the reader or audience.
I would like to add that “Words Matter”.

If we choose better words or restrain from some words that want to come bounding out of our mouths. What about the tone and manner in which we speak?

I have a feeling there would be no need to have a reminder that

“Lives Do Matter” regardless of color, gender, socio economic status or age.

Proverbs 18:21“The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.”
It’s pretty simple.

Words Matter

Lord,

Today…….. help me to choose words that bring life and encouragement to others. I agree that the Word matters and will do my best to put it into action one day at a time.

1 Thessalonians 5:11(NIV) “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

News Flash To Me

The National Association of Independent Writers and Editors (NAIWE) celebrates Words Matter Week.

Evidently, it is first week of March each year.

We are onto something big here!😜
