Letters From Home

After my Dad’s death, we had an opportunity to go through some of his old keepsakes.  Among them were the letters from when he was in the Service during World War II.  Although he, thankfully, never saw any action, what was interesting were the letters back and forth from home.  They spoke of how much he was loved…how much he was missed…how they couldn’t wait to see him again…how much he was thought about…the things they would all do once he came home.  How would it make you feel to get a letter like that?  Did you know that Someone actually has actually written you a letter like this?  Actually, a stack of letters like this.  Well, if you are at least mildly intrigued, check out some excerpts from what God has written to you. It doesn’t matter why you were gone.  It doesn’t matter what you were off doing.  It doesn’t matter if you feel unclean or unworthy.  He still loves you.  His eyes are scanning the horizon for you.  Soak this into your spiritclaim these words as His promises to you.  Drag all your bags with you and come on home

❖ He has formed every human heart, breathing life into every human spirit; He knows the deeds of each person, inside and out.

❖ Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you. – God

❖ Everyone has sinned and fallen short [or is not worthy] of God’s glorious standard [or glorious presence].  -Jesus

❖ Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. – Jesus

❖ Count on it—there’s more joy in heaven over one sinner’s rescued life than over ninety-nine good people in no need of rescue. – Jesus

❖ When he was still a long way off, his father saw him. His heart pounding, he ran out, embraced him, and kissed him. The son started his speech: ‘Father, I’ve sinned against God, I’ve sinned before you; I don’t deserve to be called your son ever again.’But the father wasn’t listening. He was calling to the servants, ‘Quick. Bring a clean set of clothes and dress him. Put the family ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Then get a grain-fed heifer and roast it. We’re going to feast! We’re going to have a wonderful time! My son is here—given up for dead and now alive! Given up for lost and now found!’ And they began to have a wonderful time. – Jesus

❖ All that My Father gives to Me comes to Me. I will receive everyone; I will not send away anyone who comes to Me. – Jesus

Thoughts to ponder:

• God already knows…everything
• God has always loved you and has been faithfully watching and waiting for you to come
• You are not alone.  Whether it shows from the outside or noteveryone has fallen short
• It just doesn’t matter to God how mixed up, messed up, screwed up we are,

He just sees us with compassionate love

• It will be a massive relief to you
• There will be healing
• The Father has given each one of us as a special gift to Jesus.  He has also given Jesus as a special gift to us.  Jesus would never think of turning us away.  We are His.
• The more often you read your letters, the more you’ll understand.

Come as you are…

Come home

~Debbie Bouckley

Come As You Are

Come out of sadness
From wherever you’ve been
Come broken hearted
Let rescue begin
Come find your mercy
Oh sinner come kneel
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t heal
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t heal

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You’re not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are

There’s hope for the hopeless
And all those who’ve strayed
Come sit at the table
Come taste the grace
There’s rest for the weary
Rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t cure

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You’re not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are
Come as you are
Fall in his arms
Come as you are

There’s joy for the morning
Oh sinner be still
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t heal
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t heal

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You’re not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are
Come as you are
Come as you are
