Dear friend, I pray that you may prosper in every way and be in good health physically just as you are spiritually. ~ 3 John 1:2 HCSB

“Those who are beloved of Christ will love the brethren for His sake. Soul prosperity is the greatest blessing on this side of heaven. Grace and health are rich companions. Grace will employee health. A rich soul may be lodged in a weak body; and grace must then be exercised in submitting to such a dispensation. But we may wish and pray that those who have prosperous souls, may have healthful bodies; that their grace may shine where there is still more room for activity. How many professors there are, about whom the apostles words must be reversed, so that we must earnestly wish and pray that their souls may prosper, as their health and circumstances do! ” ~ Matthew Henry Concise Commentary

I recently stumbled across this verse and commentary and it was one I pondered on for quite some time. I feel very strong and healthy in my spirit but I do not feel strong physically. A few years ago I trained and became a runner. I felt like I was in the best shape physically than I had ever been. In the last two years since I stopped running I haven’t been consistent with any exercise or even very disciplined with healthy eating. As I declined in my physical strength I somehow have become spiritually stronger. For me it seems that when I am stronger in one area the other seems to suffer.

Anyone else ever feel like this?

I am determined this year to achieve strength and health in both areas simultaneously and permanently.

I would love to hear some ways you balance these two areas. Please share your thoughts in the comments.

“Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.” ~3 John 1:2 NLT

May God’s word and spirit transform our life….. turning us into a tower of strength!

#LiveRestored and become healthy and stronger in body and spirit.

  1. This is good stuff!! What helps me is having accountability partners in both areas! A work out partner I can work out with to reignite my habit of working out has helped! As same as staying spiritually strong, keeping plugged into groups helps tremendously…as you know!! Going at it alone can be tougher as women…we need each other!
