We are all driving around town with a spare tire in our vehicles.
Some of us may not know exactly where it is located without getting out the trusty 12 inch thick car manual or taking an investigative look around in our car. Some spare tires are hidden. While some are located smack dab in the middle of the back of our vehicles for all to see.
How many of us see God as our spare tire at different times in our lives?
We only need Him when our life blows out or we hit a sharp nail that throws us off course.
We DO want Him to go everywhere with us. Just in case we need Him. A precautionary plan if needed.
Deuteronomy 31:8 says,
“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
We want to know that we can pull out our spare tire named, “Help Me, God” at any time to assist us in our travel crisis. After all we need to stop blocking traffic, get off the side of the road and back on the road with our lives.
Some people may not even cry out to God for help. So the fact that we do is never to be taken lightly. He wants us to go to Him for help!!
“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.” – Psalm 34:17, NIV
I don’t want to wait until things go south before I set Him in place to help me navigate through my life. That doesn’t seem considerate or very relational.
Especially if I have signed up for lifetime roadside assistance and eternity with Him.
It seems we are not utilizing all that is available to us as a son or daughter of God.
How would my father appreciate the fact that I only call him when I need something from him or help to get out of a bad situation?
What if I really took the verses I have memorized and positioned them to my front wheel alignment.
The Word of God becomes the driving force that leads me through each day.
For example I could use one I memorized in high school. Yes, in King James Version.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
I don’t have a need for a spare tire anymore.
All my tires go round and round on the Word of God in my lifetime. My warranty never expires and I am set up for Him directing my paths daily.
It only works if you are intentional and DAILY check the air in your tires.
No more need for a spare,
all four tires
filled with eternity air.

Kelley: I love this. I cry for help a lot and yet I too, forget and treat God like a spare tire. At least I know where to find Him. I am not sure I could find my spare tire……easier to go to Costco and buy new ones but good to know it’s there just the same. Love the verses you shared! Lori
Thank you Lori- I sent your message to Kelley!
