“How Can It Be” by Lauren Daigle is my worship jam for the moment!! The words are so powerful, so full of emotion, and the song touches on the true vulnerability we feel as we fall more and more in love with Jesus. We ask ourselves, how can… it be you love me so much? How can it be that I’m truly free from all this world tries to entangle me in, all that I feel I fall short in?
Our love relationship with Jesus is the most profound love story we will ever experience for ourselves and that we witness in the lives of those around us. You can pretty much pinpoint the women you come into contact with that have been touched by the love of their Savior…been saved, rescued, redeemed and restored by the One who gave His life to give us ours.
I gave my life over to Christ (or whatever you like to call it) only a month after winning Miss Texas USA over 10 years ago. It was one of the happiest times in my life as it should seem, winning the crown I’d been chasing for 5 years. But you know what? I was so empty. So thirsty for what the world had to offer me… desperate for love, acclamation and worthiness thinking a crown and all that came with it would help fill a hole in my heart that went all the way to China! Hee hee!
No really, I’m so thankful for the moment that both a humble pastor, and one of God’s most selfless servants, that I now call one of my best friends, led me in prayer and helped me humble myself to enter into the most lasting relationship I have ever found myself in.
God’s Word promises us that He will never abandon His own special possession…that is us. That is You. That is me.
“How blessed the man you train, GOD, the woman you instruct in your Word, Providing a circle of quiet within the clamor of evil, while a jail is being built for the wicked. GOD will never walk away from his people, never desert his precious people.” ~Psalm 94:12-15 MSG
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
~Psalm 34:18 NLT
The Bible tells us, “He promises to ‘be close to the brokenhearted’ and to be our source of power, courage, and wisdom.” I’ll take it…I need it!
